Default Outlaw Run Rally 2013

Hey Guys in the Southeast. Here is an awesome event that I think a lot of you would be interested in. Its a 2 day, 700 mile rally through SC, NC, GA and TN. Last year there were only 2 Subarus including mine and I would love to see a few more out there. The website is below and should answer any questions but if you have any more than let me know. I have also included a video that I made of my 2012 Outlaw Run experience (sorry its not available on mobile). I hope to see some of y'all out there

The map will not be posted and the only people that know the route are the staff organizing the event. The drivers get a card with basic directions to the next checkpoint at every checkpoint. The card usually only tells you (the driver) the next 1-2 hours of the rally until the next checkpoint is reached. I was skeptical at first but it's a really awesome format

Pretty much all 700 miles is on the mountain roads in NC, TN, SC, and GA so if you have driven those roads before chances are you'll see them again

Thats what I am trying to figure out 700 miles is a considerable amount for 2 days and mountains.

It is basically 12 hours each day including breaks at most of the checkpoints and a lunch break. Some of the checkpoints were open ended so you can "play" on the roads longer. It's a lot of driving for 1 person to handle but that's why they require you to have a co driver (even if they only navigate). My co driver and I switched driving/navigation duty every checkpoint

The ticket said leading a pack of cars at double the speed limit (62 in a 30) on tail of the dragon. He only said we were speeding, not being reckless. I know a good lawyer in TN that has a 100% rate of getting TOD tickets dropped. But the first ticket of the first Outlaw Run goes to my car!

GreenMarine may be interested as well. You could get your bowling thing to sponsor 2 or 3 cars. They seem pretty big.

So one thing says 60 cars and another says 25 teams. What is considered to be a "team"?

Well consider me and my car.....or just me. But I'd like to go if we can get the entry down and maybe some gas covered.....Check that marketing budget.

If I win the photo contest my $50 can go towards the sponsor fee

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier. The max number of teams is 60 (1 team = 1 car). Once 25 teams are registered then the really will be official. This is just in case no one signs up, but I can assure you that won't be the case. Last year we had 45ish register and pay but only about 34 or so actually showed up. The others had blown transmissions, diffs, engine, or other issues. Most, if not all, those teams will be back this year. Each team must have atleast 2 licensed drivers (some last year had 3). I hope this answers your question

there were a couple teams that has mechanical issues during the rally (blown supercharger, buster tranny, and overheating issues). It is important to bring a car that you think can last 12 hours of driving fairly hard. You were correct, there was a black e30 (with a very super secret turbo setup) and the 280z with an LS swap. There was a large variety of cars. You can scroll through the blog on outlawrun.com and check out pretty much every car that was in the rally (some last minutes signups were not added to the blog)

Was this full last year? We are contemplating this and want to make sure we have time if we don't enter on the first day.

Last year there were about 45 cars that entered but (due to different circumstances) only 36 teams participated. You should have enough time to enter if you want to wait a bit. I wouldn't wait past the"early bird special" because I think it would beer filled better then. You can also watch the website. They posted all of the teams within days of getting their payments so when it starts getting full you may need to hurry
