Default Weird startup issues.

Hey guys I have 2002 wrx with a 2.5 hybrid built motor. It is running on a opensource tune and is on a vf39 and e85. I also have a downpipe, exhaust, grimmspeed 3 port boost controller, cold air intake, tgv deletes, and 850cc injectors with a walbro 255.

My car has been acting funny since the day I bought it used with 71k miles, I just recently had the 2.5 put in it and still has the same problem. It idles really choppy and lopy when I put gas in it, I changed the evap purge solenoid and it has not fixed it. I think it honestly is a little worse, even went I start the car normally it will still chop and act funny. It's weird because if I tap the brakes when it is doing it the car will clear up and sound normal and then it when I take my foot off the brake pedal it will do it again. I have checked for vacuum leaks and I can't seem to find anything. I can also smell the fuel pretty bad when it starts the rough chopping noise. But other than the idle it runs good.

Any help would be appreciated, I've been trying to fix this problem for 3 years. Thanks guys!

I have the same problem with my 02, vf34, ID750's and new plugs. It starts and sounds like crap for the first few seconds then evens out. I also have major issues filling the gas tank too. I wonder if these problems are related.

This issue never showed in my 04 wrx, 05 wrx or 06 sti, might be an 02 issue.

running e85? Mine had a bad fuel pump and it fixed this issue. If you're running e85 in the winter months you'll have to expect rough starts. I went on a pump gas tune for the winter. You're not all the far from me, if you want a fresh open source tune from a pro on the cheap let me know.

No, mine is running a 93 octane tune using a cobb AP, and Pro Tuned by Cobb in Plano Texas.

It has always had little rough start for the first couple of seconds until it evens out.

Mine is the opposite. Doesn't do it on a cold start but does it when it's warm and when I get gas.
