As a 25 yr old I applaud your decision to sell the audi, I bought by dad's 1999 A4 1.8T for $10K back in high school and then sold it the first year I was in college to save & not be rapped by repair costs. Those damn german cars, so clean, so nice, so expensive to maintain haha!

Oh and don't mind the haters, people troll with nothing better to do than talk crap and argue over the use of one or two words. They are better off with the rest of the nutcases arguing in the comment section on YouTube. Ruins the spirit most people have when on NASIOC: a common interest in Subies!!!
Yes, I definitely need to get a rally armor order in soon!!

Wow very similar! I was so scared it would break down on me so I got rid of it as fast as possible.

Haha I don't mind. Everyone has their own opinion.

Sorry man, but those words you use...they do not mean, what you think they mean.

In other words. You're not broke, not even close. You're a 20 year old living in California and driving a 2013 WRX.

On the other hand, congrats on the car and good luck with your goals! Also, don't take the above negatively, I'm just pointing out that you are grossly misinformed of your current financial status .
If you want a budget, build it on paper like I am! hahaha.

Thank you. I know I am not in bad financials, but I am a college kid who does not have a career/make enough money yet so I used that.

Have fun with it man. Most on this board, including myself, made some questionable financial decisions when we were younger and it's generally ok.

I personally bought a 2002 WRX brand-new the day I graduated from college even though I was still working at Walgreens. Bought my first few mods on credit cards, etc. The thing is, over time you make more money and it makes it easier to pay for things in cash, not carry debt, etc. The faster you get to that point and mindset, the easier your life will be. Until then, though, enjoy your car and your bad decisions. Plenty of time to be responsible in the next 60 years of living.

Do you have some sort of special relation with the OP (Or his feel good parts in his pants?) You sure are in here a lot trying to defend him over a fairly trivial matter.
Broke, poor, same ****. Shutup already.

Awesome wrx! Have to say I'd love to have something like that and congrats on your hard work.

On the other hand I doubt you know what it is like to be truly poor. This is coming from someone who grew up with nothing, lived in homeless shelters when I was a kid, no heat or electricity in the winter, always hungry. Not hating, but maybe a bit of insight as to why someone may give you some crap when you claim to be poor.

I definitely make some decisions that I might be better off without, but where's the fun in that?! I have a credit card, but I wouldn't dare not be able to pay it off completely by the end of the month! I have it for the sole purpose of building credit.

Sounds good!! I'd love to see some details about your car!

I can't promise I'll have any of these mods too soon, but one day!!

Well thank you, sir.

Yeah I get it, I probably shouldn't have used that word. Didn't realize people would take it so seriously!

Sounds like you have had it rough my friend. Hope you are well off with a subie now.

Alright guys, seriously, when I said poor I was trying to say that I don't have enough money to do any of the mods I want and that I innovate by drawing.... Calm down.

Good luck with the car. You sound like your head is screwed on straight, my advice is if you want to mod the car, start with suspension upgrades. You don't have to have loads of power to make the car fun to drive. Sway bars and endlinks are a great start. Get every bushing there is. Most bushings are cheap and sway bars won't set you back much. You start looking for power and god forbid something happens, most likely, your warranty isn't going to help. Also motor builds aren't cheap. my $0.02

enjoy the warranty before the mods. MY11 is practically stock (except exhaust) and I still love it the same.
What the **** does that even mean? Are you supposed to only buy a car if you can buy it outright? LOL. Guess I missed the part where being a responsible adult means never paying bills at the end of the month; only purchase things outright or don't buy them at all.

Congrats on the car OP! I got a 2013 WRX this November myself

Honestly, that is exactly my plan. My plan would be suspension/wheels, brakes, and then power. Maybe some exhaust parts in between but real power comes last. I think that is probably the best way to go about any car build.

Yeah I need to look more into bushings and suspension in general. I haven't studied this area to much.

While in warranty, I really am not scared to mess with suspension because they really have no excuse not to replace something engine-related if all I have done is suspension, wheels, and even brakes.

Sold my S2000 and picked up a 02 wrx.. Not a new 2013 but I guess a subaru is a subaru. Can't wait to see what you have in store for it!

OP sounds like you have got a good head on your shoulders and your car payment probably is extremely reasonable. Good advice about the bushings and suspension as good first mods. The first mod I recommend anybody getting into the Subaru world and wants to learn how to turn wrenches to (if your wanting to do your own work) is getting a kart boy short shifter and bushings kit. Extremely easy to instal, removes the slop out of the shifter completely. Everyone of my friends to do this has been extremely pleased with it. Plus it runs under 200 bucks for the whole kit. Congrats and welcome. Remember, it's about the journey of modding the car not the finished result.

Yeah I am definitely going to look into bushings. I would like to do all the work possible myself. I have an uncle who has built several cars when he was younger and is a contractor now with every tool you can think of. His son is 18 and mods his car all the time too, so I'd probably do most my work at his house. Kinda lucky resource!

I totally agree, I can't wait to get under my car for the first time!!

Thanks for the support!

Nice car! I'm a college student as well, saved up and bought an 02 wrx, just recently sold to get something with a bit more power, like 250 more horses. Keep the car clean and no one will hate on you!

Congrats! Nice suby and nice mod plans! I myself saved up and bought a 2002 Lexus IS300 my junior year of high school and just recently sold it to buy my 2003 WRX. I am 19 and attend the University of Pittsburgh.
