Default Oil change...what in the HELL is this?

I have never seen this before. I get all my old oil out, go unscrew the top to pour in the new oil and notice this:

What the hell? It looks like melted cheese and is only at the top (it's not going down where the oil goes). I wiped it up and it smells just like oil.

I thought my oil cap had melted or something but nope. I'm confused.

Actually, it is going down the "pipe" where you pour in the oil too.

My only guess is it was oil that froze and then warmed up so many times (gets cold at night here) because the only oil that touches that area is when you are changing the oil and fill it up with new oil.

Looks like some coolant or water got into the top of the cap and mixed with the oil.
How did the rest of the oil look?

*EDIT: Doubled ninja'd.
I would say condensation, and if the rest of the oil that you drained was fine, I wouldn't worry much about it.

Rest of the oil looked completely fine coming out. No yellow at all.

A bit of condensation may have built up. Wipe it off and keep an eye on it. Probably nothing to worry about.

Prolly nothing, it's normal to have some spooge under the 710 cap. Just to be safe you could send a sample to someone like blackstone labs for a uoa.

+1 for condensation. No need for alarm. Unless the rest of your oil looks like that.

Its not really a GOOD thing. It is from driving short distances and not allowing the car to properly warm up.

It actually takes a lot longer for oil to come up to temp than coolant. So while the gauge for coolant on your dash may look good you may also still have cold oil.

Additionally, if you have a vent to atmosphere AOS or catch can you will see more than a closed loop system.
