Hope to see interesting setups since I wish to improve the stereo (mainly to improve USB and iPod usability and for sound quality).

Do you have a premium or limited? I'm not much of an audio tech and wonder how a unit like this would integrate w/ the USB/Aux ports as they sit in the center console.

I have the base model, so I didn't have to deal with USB/Aux ports, or steering wheel buttons, or a stock bluetooth microphone.

My understanding is that the stock head unit uses proprietary connectors for the USB/Aux ports, so it's a big hassle to get them hooked up. I have the USB and AUX cords from the aftermarket head unit routed to the little cubby below the climate control knobs/in front of the shifter, as shown here:

For the steering wheel controls, when I researching this stuff around a year ago, there was a poster called SVXDC on here who was making/selling wiring harnesses that would get the controls working properly.

I'm not sure if the stock bluetooth microphone is compatible with an aftermarket head unit. I have my aftermarket microphone (came with the head unit) clipped to the front left corner of the headliner. The only issue I ever have is that it gets blocked when the sun visor is down, so my voice sounds a bit muffled to whoever I'm talking to.

Double DINs... Pshh! I should have snapped a shot of my mic location, but its not that important anyhow. Here you are, single DIN installed.

Mine looks the same. Installed the pioneer 9600 last week. Sound is much better than stock. I'll wait till it gets warmer and install new speakers.

They are about the same to install. The double din I think you need and ebrake override. I got the single cause I don't need video or gps.

A bit of clarification on the e-brake override:

Double-DIN systems will typically block you from accessing certain settings and watching videos if the e-brake is not on. This is done for obvious safety reasons. They have a wire that you need to connect to the wire carrying the e-brake signal, so it can tell if the e-brake is on or not.

If you want to watch video and have access to all of the settings without having the e-brake on, you can trick the head unit into thinking that it's always on. I understand that this is not quite as trivial to do as you might expect, but there are purpose-built circuits available on Amazon and Ebay that will take care of it for you.

Personally, I never bothered with the e-brake override thing. All of the settings that I've ever used after initial setup are available while driving anyway.

I chose to go the double-DIN route because I wanted to install a backup camera as well.
