If ya can't tell, I did a lot of walking both days. I actually sat in turns 15 and 1 and in the main grand stand lol. They let us just sit where ever and go pretty much any where.

No complaints, affordable and works well. I don't have allot to compare it to though.

It was my first time at that track. I watched practice from the pits on Friday. Then the main grand stand (worst place to sit, it was like watching loud tennis) all you could see was the start finish line. Turn 1 is cool because it seemed like that's where the cars "bumped" into each other the most... Walked about 10 miles it seems... best viewing spot in my opinion was the grassy knoll at turn 7. Started Saturday there and then crossed the bridge to the base of the tower. Did anyone else do the tower experience thing? FYI on Saturday with the wind the damn thing was swaying...

Default tower

We did the tower on Friday. Wind was not too bad that day. $20 with the elevator ride. I heard it was $35 during F1 with no elevator guaranteed.

T7 was a great spot to watch the cars go by. We had tix for the main grandstand - I think we spent less than 1 hour there the entire two days! It may be more exciting there during F1 but not at GrandAm.

We were on the grassy area at T1 when we saw the Mustang t-bone another car. The Mustang caught on fire. But the driver walked away fine, it seemed. There was another crash there later on too.

It was pretty exciting to watch a local Austinite take the poll and the win in the GX class!

But bummed out that Subaru cancelled their road racing team. The CoTA info page still had the STi listed as one of the cars.

I had signed up to drive Parade Laps on the Sunday after the races - I thought it was going to be about 30 mins of easy laps - but it was one slow lap because there were hundreds of cars that showed up and they had to team us up so everyone could get a shot at a lap. I was the lone Subie! Anyway, I did a single track day back in January so no big deal about the single slow lap. I will try to make up for it during the next track session in May (if it happens)!

MotoGP next month! It is supposed to be the second biggest event at the track after F1. They expect between 60-70K people. Should be interesting to watch the bikes and people!
