Default Anyone heard of a salvage title from an engine rebuild?

I'm thinking about trading my FD rx7 for an 05 sti, I love everything about the car, except it has a salvage title. The owner says that the previous owner did an insurance claim for a blown engine and it caused the car to get a rebuilt title.

Now I did the background check and it checked out, no wrecks, no flood, no fire but it is indeed salvage.

Has anyone else ever heard of this happening or has happened to them?

If you have not found out for sure that is not a flood dammaged car, it likely is a flood dammaged car. The end. The previous owner's insurance company would be the place to start to see why they totaled the car and salvaged it.
