TBE's are loud. i have a full 3" Megan racing tbe and the drone sucks! btw don't buy this Dp either. my car came with it and i just haven't changed it yet. the rest of the exhaust is SS and always has a shine to it and no rust issues.

Correction, Junk quality TBE's are loud. I run a Prodrive DP and N1 catback, my car doesn't drone one single bit. But I actually bought quality parts, not some shotty brand piece of crap cobbled up lump of turd.

I have had that set-up and it's a very good one. All the parts are VERY good quality and it will of course be louder than stock, but it is more than tolerable for daily driving. It's a great, deep exhaust sound, and you're able to hear the turbo spool nicely in the cabin as well. For me and my personal needs, that it the perfect set-up.

I've had the SPT Intake/Exhaust since 16K miles. At 40K I flashed the Stage 1 93 octane map with little drama. The car felt better, but wasn't really OMG different than stock. It felt stronger, but not faster, if that makes any sense. At about 57K I went with the Cobb Street Downpipe and had my car Pro-Tuned off a Stage 2 93 octane basemap. The car put down 279.7/293ish on a Dyno Dynamics heartbreaker dyno. It pulls very hard and is significantly faster than it was before. Is there more power on the table if you go with a full 3" system, sure. Do I particularly care, no. It's plenty of power for the streets and enough to get yourself into trouble. The Cobb/SPT pairing is loud, no doubt, but I didn't find it any louder than the SPT exhaust on the OEM downpipe. If you're content with the sound you have now, you'll have no issues with the sound post-install. I have no exhaust leaks whatsoever and have had zero drama. Again, your setup and goals may ultimately differ, but I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be pleased with that setup. |

Thanks everyone for all of your help! It is greatly appreciated and has helped me learn a lot about Subaru STIs and more so about what is safe and not. This car is my daily driver and performance is definitely what I want but reliability is my number one concern. I'm happy to be a part of the Subaru crowd as everyone seems to be a lot smarter and less childish as you see with many other car crowds. THANKS!!!

I got my Cobb accessport a few days ago and flashed to stage 1 93 octane. I have the spt intake and cb exhaust. I think the car drives so much smoother with stage 1. Downshifting is a lot cleaner and the power range is more consistent through the rpm range. The idel is at about 700 when warm and it use to be about 1100 and it might seam odd but I think the sound is slightly deeper. I can't notice a huge difference in power gain but some friends say it feels faster.

I have a helix catted downpipe mated to an SPT exhaust that was modified to be all 3" with a cutout in the beginning of the midpipe. when my cutout is closed(how a normal SPT with a dp would sound) it's very quiet, I like it whenever I get on it my intake completely drowns out the exhaust. here's a video, in the beginning thats what it would sound like with an SPT & downpipe
