YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

Leftlane: http://www.leftlanenews.com/cadillac-ats-v.html

Quote:
After months of rumors, our spy photographers have just sent us the first hard evidence that Cadillac is working on a hardcore ATS-V performance sedan to take on BMW's next-generation M3.

Spotted undergoing shakedown testing in the Western United States, this prototype has all the telltale signs of a Cadillac V-series product. Up front's you'll notice Cadillac's signature V-series mesh grille, with this particular prototype wear wheels and tires borrowed from the CTS-V. It remains unclear at this point if those wheels were fitted out of convenience or if they're indicative of the final design.

Behind those 19-inch rollers reside larger brakes not typically found on run-of-the-mill ATS models. Judging by the size of the caliper and disc, the ATS-V should have some serious stopping power.

Out back the ATS-V sports dual exhaust outlets that appear to be slightly bigger than the ATS' standard units.

It remains unknown just what exhaust note will bellow out of those pipes as we haven't been able to get a peek under the ATS-V's hood. There is still an outside chance that the ATS-V will get V8 power, but the most likely scenario is a twin-turbocharged V6, displacing either 3.0L or 3.6L. Look for the ATS-V to boast between 350-400 horsepower.

The Cadillac ATS-V is expected to debut in late 2013 or early 2014 as a 2015 model.

I think they're saving the LT1 V8 for the next-gen Camaro which will get a version of this chassis. It must have some seriously tweaked body panels if they resorted to camo instead of hiding in plain sight using a regular ATS as a powertrain mule.

I'll be surprised if there's an V8 in there, although an LS3 would fit the bill.

ATS is lighter than the 3-series, even the V-6 weighs 3461lb. And if anything I'm guessing an LS1/LT1 will be lighter than that V6 engine, so the only weight it has to gain is from bigger brakes, tranny, suspension bits, wheels, etc.

Yeah that was my point. It would be awsome if they could keep it under 3500 lbs. M3s are about 3700 these days i think

All of the pictures get photoshopped. The spy photos of the Corvette last winter showed some snow covered mountains in the background. The ONLY test site in which GM tested the Corvette last year is nowhere near any mountains. The two ATS-V speculative cars pictured in this thread were at winter test this year. I saw both of them. I know nothing about either or them as I don't work on that program. That said, there aren't any locations a photographer could catch those cars AND have trees in the background like that. One site doesn't have trees that close to any access roads. The other site you'd have to hike about a mile off a main road through a field and some dense trees to get near the test surfaces...all of which would be trespassing. You'll also notice the windows are hazed out so you can't see the driver.

Photographers find a decent hiding spot and then photoshop the photos so the manufacturers can't see where they were actually taken or who was driving to try and put a time and place to it.

E46 weight (34XX lbs) is the target for the new M3 (415hp 3.0l TTV6 w/approx 400tq).
