Looking to do the same soon, I'm just worried about them having no locks. Anyone know if a Yakima fairing will fit on? I've searched but haven't found an outright 100% sure answer. Not trying to steal the thread, just add to it

Oooh, i broke the factory roof racks (long story, drove into a parking structure with a bike on the roof)! and I ordered these older style ones with channels on them and at the first glance it fit on the roof but I found out the screws that came with it were too short and didn't reach the holes, so I had to use my old rack's screws which were too long now! and some spacers and washers to make it fit. I got mine new off ebay so this amazon one could be different.
Also my original racks (the thinner ones with no channel) were much less noisy where I didn't use a fairing with no annoying noise but these fat ones are super noisy and I had to get a fairing to shut them up... Hope these work on yours! |

this is from rhino rack its the X series, wasn't too expensive either, plus if u mount it correctly u can take off the racks and let another scooby from 08-13 use it. my buddy uses this all the time on his 09' wrx and my gf uses it too on her 10' impreza.

What size is that one dude? I'm looking at some online and wanted to see which one you had...Also, does it come with clips or did you have to buy those in addition?

For some reason I find it difficult to screw on the oem cross bar, was wondering if everyone got the same issue?

Definitely check out the Yakima landing pads and control towers. It offers a really clean setup with a virtual 30 second on and off. I have a set and love them!

re: oem rack and annoying to put on / off...
I've been using my wrx w/ oem rack for a few years...i've found that even though it's easy to get on/off...it's not exactly "fast" - maybe 5-10 mins if you hurry. It's got to be lined up just "so" and if it's cold and hands get cold...eh. I could be a whiner but it's a PITA if you do it a weekly. In hindsight I wish I had sprung for a setup that is more fast -n- flexible. YMMV |

From what I have seen, the inno fairing (medium size) fits the best.
