Default Turbo replacement

Hey guys I bought a 05 sti a couple months ago and when I bought it I was told the turbo was pushing oil so the seller sold the car with a spare turbo. My question is will this turbo work to replace in my car without any tuning?

If the turbo is the same as what's currently on the car you should be good. However, if not... Plan on a tune my man

05 STI would have come stock with a VF39; the TD04 was the stock turbo from the WRX and smaller than the VF39

This.

The TD04L comes from a Forester XT or an OBXT or any EJ255 I believe.

The TD04 would be a downgrade from a factory STi VF39 or whatever was available for that year STi.

You could still use that turbo. It would make less power but it might be good if you wanted a insta-torque setup. You could sell it for cash too.
