Thumbs up

I just got my 2.5 TS last week, and so far there's a lot to like. Considering I'm in Canada, the first thing to like is the fact that our MSRP on the 2.5TS works out to only $14,075 US Also, the fact that there are relatively few differences in standard equipment between the TS and the RS (notable exceptions being slightly softer suspension settings and 15" steel wheels) there isn't any reason to think it's a "mom" car at all. Just as much power as the RS, and pretty much all the same creature comforts as well. I do intend to upgrade the rear sway bar to reduce understeer and am on the lookout for some 2002 stock 16" wheels from an RS or WRX (anyone upgrading to 17" wheels and feel like selling their stock ones?) but otherwise, the car's a joy to drive and lots of fun to toss into corners, like an Impreza is expected to be. Hope that clears up the "mom" car question.

My best friend just got one last weekend. Sedona Red, just like my RS.

She loves the car and just kept going on and on when she called me. Its just an RS, but a wagon. How could you go wrong? Besides, I like the mono-tone paint versus the two tone of the Outback Sport. Plus its really practical.

Just beware that the TS is not an RS Wagon. The RS has these things the TS doesn't:

16" wheels
Cruise control
Rear disc brakes
Sport-style seats
Leather-wrapped steering wheel
Sports suspension

If you want a wagon with cruise and a few more enhancements than the TS, and you don't mind the two-tone paint, you might want to consider the OBS. I'd rather have an RS wagon, but there isn't one availalbe.

Good luck with your choice.

Good wheels, tires, and rear sway bar will have a TS handling great. Add a decent suspension and strut bars, and it should handle better than a stock RS, maybe even a stock WRX.

The rear drums are a bummer, as are the smallish front rotors. Still, they work, are ABS, and can be upgraded.

OBS vs. TS? A TS with good wheels, tires, and a sway bar would probably turn circles around a stock OBS, and the price difference is greater than the cost of a suspension, so compare $ with options (edmunds.com is great for this). I've bought two OBS's. This time I prefer the TS, tho' you can't get the rear cargo light in the TS. Oh well.

You can easily upgrade everyting that the TS is missing compared to the RS and for the money have a better car than the Base RS. IMHO. I did just that with the Legacy "L" instead of buying the GT model, which was $4200 more. If I would put $3000 into the car I would have a car that would dust the GT. The only big change for you would be the brake upgrades, they would set you back some ca-ching. I got lucky the brakes on the GT vs the "L" are the same.

Naw, the interior difference is to great between the new RS and the new TS... Seats especially, not to mention the two-tone color of the TS which is more like the old L's...
But, If I cared about having a wagon more than anything else, I'd definatly get the TS!
But, since I dont care, the RS is worth the extra grand IMO...

I'm going to wait to see of they build an RS wagon-- or see what the next-gen Legacy GT will have in it.

I'm driving one, save couple grands (I'm in Canada BTW) worth the money! For the seat, technically they are same as the RS, only using different material, color, pattern.
15" compare to 16" rims on RS, rear drum to rear disc, no real leather steering and shift knob, no biggie for me! I used to drive a 99 RS, I like the look of the wagon, so I traded it in for the 02 TS!

Does Anyone in the I-Clud actually own one???? If so, do you think it is worth getting, and then modding?? Or should I just go with the R.S. I love the looks of the wagon, but whats up with it? Is it good?? How are the Seats??

No, the seats are the same... Look at the side bolsters, the RS has the same as the WRX, while the TS and OBS are the same with flatter backs and bottom cushions... I did a side by side comparo to see this.
