Hey guys.... so im new to the subaru world, picked up my very first wrx last year and have been trying to lean as much as posible.

So i have a 2012 wrx limited and ran across these on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPO-08-11-S...86a7be&vxp=mtr
and was wondering if they would fit my car.

They will fit your car, however you can save a lot of money if you utilize your stock headlights. Also the hid kit that it comes with is probably really crappy and utilizing a hid kit in a halogen projector is really not preferred anywhere.
If your intention is to just make your headlights look aesthetically better, then I would just bake them open and paint the parts that you would want painted.

If you want an actual increase in visibility then continue reading. I would recommend trying the H9 bulb upgrade (stock uses H11). It requires a little trimming of the H9 bulb but increases lumens (i.e. light output) and it does not cost that much. If you want to go "all out", I would recommend a retrofit.
The easiest one being this: http://shop.lightwerkz.net/Morimoto-Retro-Quick-System . All you do is bake your headlights, swap out the oem projectors with the new HID projectors, install the supplied HID kit, and you should be good to go. With this kit you will gain a very good light cut-off (tends to be not very good with hid kit/halogen projector combo and produces a lot of glare) and even a higher number of lumens if you choose the proper kelvin rating.

This may be a lot to take in, but I hope this helps you somewhat and you are more than welcome to send me a private message if you have any more questions!
I think he already has Hid head lights since it's a limited.

Yeah, definitely don't buy that Ebay kit when you own a limited WRX. You already have a "somewhat" decent factory HID kit. If you want the headlights to look different, bake them, open them, and paint the insides.

Yes i already have HID lights in my car. I really like to keep the stock housing just to have incase i ever need to revert back to stock. My plan was to get these and swap over all my bulbs and hid's into the new blacked out housing.

I think this will be the cheapest and easiest way and still keep my stock housings intact.

My apologies. Keep in mind the quality may not be nearly as good as stock. Plus the aftermarket projectors are halogen meaning you will lose your cutoff and light dispersion.

If your going for the blacked out look take the extra couple hours and nake/paint yours. You'll save $350 or however much those cost and they will look exactly the same. Since you have them opened up you might consider swapping lenses with a tsx clear lenses from theretrofitsource.com its a cheap upgrade that goes a long way. Its really easy to bake your headlights

Consider this a review of sorts, but don't buy those DEPO headlights unless you're planning a custom retrofit. The halogen projectors in these lights are straight up garbage and have terrible light output, even worse than the stock 08+ halogen lights.

I bought a set figuring I'd slap the TRS retroquick kit into them since I need my car basically everyday and couldn't go days with the lights out of the car. The consturction of the overall housings is fine and they actually fit perfectly, but there are some major issues that make them crappy headlights.

On top of the crappy halogen projectors, the TRS retroquick kit DOES NOT fit at all. Also, the hole under the headlight where the lowbeam wiring passes through is about half the size it needs to be, thus making these terrible stock replacement lights as you can't even get that grommet back on the lights. You'd have to cut/drill out the hole to the proper size so it's a major PITA.

I currently have these DEPO lights on my car as I complete the HID retrofit on my stock lights, than I'll be taking these off and trying to sell them or just junk them.

IMO, bake your lights open and paint them, it's super simple. 20 minutes in the oven at 225 degrees and they will split right open. Then just remove the shroud from the plastic cover, paint, and reassemble/bake. I always was afraid to do this, but it really couldn't be easier.

Been using the search function on the forum (yep they do work) and found a few walkthroughs on how to bake the headlight and looks easy enough so when i find time i know what ill be doing.

Acswatdouwant: what are the tsx lenses? and what will they do for my HID's?

If you look closely at your projector lenses you'll notice that it looks sort of wavy. These lenses: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=135 are perfectly clear and make the cutoff line a thousand times sharper and give it that nice blue band at the top. Do some searching to make sure those fit since you have newer oem hids and the lens might be a different size. They make everything much crisper. Its the next best thing you can do to a retrofit and its only about $50. Request the spacers to fine tune the cutoff line.

I know this may be a bit of a different direction from the origional post but didnt some of the older models come with the housings blacked out from factory? why not find some one that wants to trade their older black housing for your newer alteza housing? I am thinking about doing the same thing to get black housings for my car, assuming they are a direct swap

Because no one wants the ugly chrome headlight housing.

They are shiny, they look like crap, they remind me of something a stupid honda boy would buy, therefore I call them altezza. Chrome is insulting to Harleys everywhere lol I cant wait to paint mine they don't go well with PB. White not bad dark colors not so much

I kinda like them.. They make the front pop a bit more. I'm not into the whole "black everything out" look, if I end up retrofitting and I take the housings apart I may paint them black but other than that I wouldnt go out spending money or extra time just to paint them. Its good to have contrast, and headlights are suposed to be chrome.. they are reflective.. The tail lights on the hatch are another story tho..

and chrome on a Harley is not even close to comparable to "altezza" headlights on a WRX.. I dare you to walk up to a biker and tell him his chrome is wack.. lol

oh and "honda boy" comments are just moronic and make you look like you think your the ish cause you drive a WRX, respect is given where it is deserved.. Car guys should respect other car guys..

Hmm wish my parents would pay for my car as well.

If you would have read the hole thread, you would have read that I have a wrx limited with hid'a already. I wanted to buy them for the shells swapping over all of my bulbs and hid's into the new ones.

After a few comments to paint them myself, I did some searching and read up on how to do it and said that I changed my mind and would be painting the ones I have now.
