If you happen to have a "gator grip" then that might help. When my roomate and I changed the oil in my rex for the first time it was all out hell trying to get that thing off. It took about 20 minutes of pulling and pushing as hard as I possibly could. Possibly try putting the wrench on the drain bolt and then hitting the end of the wrench with a rubber mallet for a while might work. Just keep trying and it will come off I promise. We almost thought we were going to have to take it to a shop that had air ratchets to loosen it up enough for us to get it off, but it finally came off. Good luck

Yea.. swear at it alot and then try harder

I had to change my oil yesterday... broke down and bought an oil filter wrench cause the dang thing wouldn't come off. Had a hard time with the drain plug too but it finally gave. Maybe use some WD-40 or similar product and let it soak in for bit?

Just use a breaker bar to get it loose. It's only supposed to be 33lb/ft. but the factory bolts those things on like crazy. When you put it back in after draining the oil, tighten it until the crush washer compresses and it is snug.

You can increase the torque applied to the bolt by increasing the length of your ratchet. I used a pipe and just slipped it on. If you don't have one, one could use a large box end wrench.

Trust me I am turning the right way. Lefty loosey.

And I changed the oil 2 times before. I torqued it down and just crushed the washer but for some reason it is stuck like all heck. Same thing happened with my girlfriends Corolla. I might have to take it to a shop if I can not find an extra long wrench or a pipe to give me some extra torque. I just dont want to torque the entire dran pan off.

Get a breaker bar, like cnk said. They aren't very expensive. And it will help a ton anytime you have a bolt stuck. Its a very long bar with a hook up for a socket - in case you don't know what one is.

If you can't find a breaker bar, just go to home depot and get a 18" or 24" long peice of 3/4" piping to slide over the socket wrench handle. That should give you more than enough leverage.

Not I think I striped a section of the bolt and there is a chard of metal that will not let me get the bolt on any longer.

*** really.

go buy a screw extractor. its pretty much a counterbored screw that digs into the back of the bolt you're trying to get out. So as you ratchet counterclockwise, it will further dig into the stuck screw and turn that screw counterclockwise as well.

I'd just stop what you're doing and take it to the dealer or Midas or something and have them take it out for you. Based on your experiences thus far, wouldn't want you to further damage anything else on the car.
