Default Quick Question: Transfer Duty Solenoid.

I'm looking at the 05 Impreza FSM, and there's a pin labeled transfer duty solenoid.

Is this the solenoid that controls Front-Rear power split on the center diff?

Sounds like that's what it is talking about to me. Here's the solenoid.

Item #1 in the illustration.

They call it a "Valve assembly-transfer clutch" in the parts catalog. It would be nice if the FSM and the parts catalog used the same names for everything, but the names are usually totally different.

Yes, it's so confusing. People call it Solenoid duty c, and then some years they called it Transfer Duty (C) Solenoid, and then in my FSM just transfer duty solenoid.

I'm not even sure if it's the right one, there's like 3 more solenoids on the AT.

High Clutch, Low Clutch, and lock up duty.

Perchance would you know what any of these solenoids do?

transfer duty solenoid, solenoid c are the same solenoid located in the rear of a 4eat transmission. its what is used to control lockup of rear clutch pack that controls awd.

if you put the fuse in the fwd location it locks this solenoid in the bleed position so you dont have awd, front wheel drive only

There seems to be two part numbers thrown around out there on the forums I've been researching: 31942AA090 and 31942AA103. I am wanting to replace the one in my 98 Forester... how do I find out which is the right one?
