Default Brake Squeak

Hey Everyone

I have a 2013 sti and this problem happens generally when coming to a stop but with the wheel turned either left or right. Would just like to know if anyone else experiences something silmilar

My STI had alot of brake squeak for the first 1500 miles, and got worse as the brakes got hotter in city traffic. Now at 3700 miles it seems to have gone away, although its been pretty damp and cold the past several weeks and I haven't been doing much city stop and go.

The 04's brakes got squeaky from heat also, heavy traffic or right after an autox run.

I hear a "grone", (light grinding noise) from the rears all the time, but my 04 did the same thing.

Brembos are just loud and noisy in general, nature of the beast.

Stock pads are notoriously 'loud'. Only solution I've heard if you want to go with an OEM pad is to start using the 2007 pads, which are the same dimensions. Past that you can clean your rotors more with water to remove excess brake dust, or try going for a different aftermarket solution once you are needing to change them.

yup, brembos squeel some time. i've not had that before and thought possibly something wrong with it. NOPE, everyone else seems to have it. mine has gotten a lot better... its at 20K miles now. every now and then when coming to a slow stop it might squee a bit.

Brakes make noise. Imagine that.

My '11 WRX brakes don't squeak a lick. We should swap!

From my experience, if brakes don't squeek, they probably aren't very good. Pads that have good bite to them tend to squeek.

The stock pads squeek a little. Greasing the caliper & that little plate between the pad & caliper does help somewhat. If you're getting outrageously loud squeeling, I'd try that.

My Hawk HP+ pads squeek more than stock, and it seems especially so when they're cold. In reverse they howl very loudly, and I believe it's those little plates - people who have them on backwards have serious noise issues.

FNGs. Get some anti squeal brake lube at your local parts shop and use it according to the directions. It takes maybe 5 min. a wheel. RTFM! You do NOT rub the lube on your rotors. Though that would stop the squeek.
