Default Lyonheart K

formerly known as Growler E 2011

http://www.lyonheart.com/

Quote:
The Lyonheart K which was the E-Type Growler until Classic Factory took over the project has now been officially priced and will cost from 360k (for the Coupe), a little less than Lyonheart told us last year. For your 360k plus VAT (roughly 366k inc vat) you get all the beauty of an E-Type but with modern underpinnings including the heart of a Jaguar XK and its 5.0 litre supercharged V8 with Cosworth tweaks to deliver 575PS offering a very non-E-Type 0-62mph of under 4 seconds.
Fifty per cent of Lyonheart K production is staying in Europe, 20 per cent is off to the Middle East and 30 per cent to China, with a total of just 250 cars being built, starting in December 2013 and ending in the summer of 2015.
Demand has been so strong that deliver already stands at between 18 and 24 months, so if you think the Lyonheart K is a better E-Type recreation for you than the Eagle E-Type youd probably better get a shake on.
The Lyonheart K is being built in Coventry by Envisage and promises if your pockets are deep enough real joy.

That is pretty gorgeous, but for that coin, I would buy a classic E-type and throw some modern brakes and suspension on it.

And swap the engine to something that would run longer than the oil change intervals? My father owned an E-type, reliability was not a strong point.

Pedals are an extra-cost option.

Most E-types suffer from neglect at some point. Every 2nd, 3rd or 4th owner are subject to the sins of the previous owners. I would wager a properly maintained E-type from day one is not that bad at all.

Plus it is a 50 year old car. I expect the reliability of a 50 year old car. Reliability to me is not the best measuring stick of greatness

Huzzah~

I totally stand by that. Reliability does not really matter in judging the greatness of a car. My VW is a prime example. It has 2709 miles on it and it has been nothing but pure driving fun since day one. It is just incredible to wind out that smooth engine and feel that incredible suspension doing its balancing act between firm and comfortable.

We all know the chances of me having a 2-3 year trouble free experience is almost nil, but you never know. I tend to care less about worrying every day about it breaking down and more about how wonderful it is to drive on a daily basis. When it breaks I will get it fixed. Who cares. Until then its Das Auto fun baby.
