I have one of those. The carbon fibre structure makes the car amazingly light. The twin turbo 1.3 putting out 390hp/400#ft is amazing in a 1200 pound 2 door AWD coupe. They really need to figure out the squeeking between the carbon structure and the polyberrilium roller bearing suspension interface. I don't like the 12 speed sequential either. Too jolty compared to the 8 speed manual that I'll likely get next year.

If the MY14 is new, then it's best to wait for MY15 for them to work out any kinks, always the best bet.

Hence why I got my '13, because I can just sell/trade it in if I want to get a '15 STi or potentially a BRZ STi.

All speculation of course, what a stupid thread.

Now he's procrastinated himself right out of a new STI because the new ones suck (in his opinion) and the 2013 model is no longer new and can only be had as a used and most likely abused car.

OP, if you want an STI, get one, now. Life is short.

Yeah, I agree with you. Seems like people instantly become children when they hop on the internet and completely become idiots. Yeah I was thinking that also though. I am in no rush, but I wanted to see what others though/would do. Seeing a lot of inputs would be better than just one.

Though it may be true the the first year will have the most bugs, don't expect the 2014 to be flawless because they had 3 years of the sedan to get it right and 6 years of the hatch, because 2007 was the last of the GD body style which lasted what? 5 or 6 years and it had ringland issues, a bad stock tune, ect.

The fact that the outside is identical, most all the parts are being replaced with newer versions which may still have quirks.

If you wait for the 2015, you will just say, maybe i should wait for the 2016, then the 2017....ect.

IMO the they are holding off the WRX/STI model until the BRZ has its fair share into the market. Then 2015 is when they will unveil the new WRX line. Not to overshadow the BRZ for sales. Possibly a BRZ STI around that time as well.

I bought a 13 STI just recently myself and ran into this same dilemma. Decided to go for it myself. But thats just my opinion, people on this board don't seem to give a **** about opinions and questions with all there smartass replies to everything, yet they have the time to needlessly troll.

OP, if you will hate yourself for not having the latest and greatest then wait.

All you saying life is short, yes it can feel that way but you also only get one shot at it. **** it up and your one shot is gone. You can live today like there is no tomorrow but what happens when tomorrow comes and you have nothing cause it is all in yesterday.

And **** "what if"

This is why you just wait and let other people ask the questions and then read all the trolling and some of the legit responses like a ghost.

EDIT: Also if you notice it's most of the "NEWBIES" being nice and most of the "Specialist, etc." that are not.. hmmmm. awesome forums.

I guess I should start by saying I really do like the looks and drive to this current STI and I was thinking if I went with the 2014 I am getting a more refined car with less problems. Where if I waited for the 2015 I may be picking up a car with many problems and issues. But that is just a guess!

What do you guys think? Should I just go to the 2014 STI or wait for the 2015? And why?

Thanks for all the help!
May have gotten the same result.. BUT, you should have posted in http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=34

Decide if you want two doors or four. Looks like the next year will be a two door with a 2.0 direct injection + turbo setup.

not sure if srs...
first of all, op is a ******

2nd.. no one knows the specs or design of the 14 sti let alone 15. If anything, the 15 would be more refined as they fix little problems here and there they had with the 14

I'm pretty sure the world is ending in 2014 or something like that. Can't remember exactly what the billboard said, but I wouldn't wait for the 2015 because production won't happen if WE'RE ALL DEAD.

True, only if you don't enjoy doing it.

OP, "What If" dilemma's tricky. No one likes to decide with uncertainty in mind or with very little to no information. Generally we go for what's the near future since we learn to know a lot more about it than the one further out.

Your question reminds me of, "Will I want to marry this girl? What if someone better comes along?" (Trade up?)

Really, it's your call though.

your best bet is to be more practical. buy one of the current generations and get with it. get a 2014 and get laid off. goodluck paying those lease payments. buyin brand new cars is simply a joke
