Yeah after reading his thread I really wanted to hit 300whp but the fact that I don't have headers, no front mount intercooler, no 93 octane, and no PPG built gears to push the limits on I'm happy with where I am.

Based on all these "conservative tunes" every turbo should be "safe"....too dumb.

Enjoy your setup, i am just no impressed with the power that thing put out.

Public forum, you posted, my oppinon....nothing more or less.
I'm sorry you feel I lied to you or anyone else on the board. Next time I'll try to be more literal with what I say, hopefully then you wont get so confused. You need to realize when I say this is "THE" turbo for the 2.0l that's MY OPINION. Its not a fact in any way shape or form. The facts are on the dyno graph, everything else is personal review and thoughts. I thought that was something most people would understand...

I'm glad to hear your positive results on this turbo, while you reviewed this turbo!! I'm looking to purchase the 16g xt-r!!! I can't wait to have "all of my ducks in a row." It's nice to see companies making the EJ20 potent platform, to overcome OEM shortcomings, because the spotlights more often than not shines on the EJ255 & Ej257!

You also can't compare my dyno to your dyno as they are two different beasts. And that plot was at 24 PSI. I agree with your feelings though and I normally run 20 PSI daily as I was trying my best to break the turbo since I was the "crash test dummy" for it

Exactly. As much as I wanted to hit 300whp I did NOT want to be in the 330 range. A little too risky for the budget I'm on. Either way I couldn't be happier with the power/feel/response of the vehicle as of now. Horse power is just a number, the overall feel/connection I have with the vehicle is something you can't measure on a dyno.

I've been thinking about this turbo and would be very happy with your results. I have a question about your injectors. Were 650's enough? What's the injector duty cycle? I'm considering ID1000's just for the smooth idle and ease of tuning that everyone raves about. Other than that my planned mod list will look pretty much the same.

I answered my own question by re-reading Unabomber's thread. Seems like his 650's were almost topped out. I guess it's ID1000's for me.

False.

The Tomei 7760 has a very similar if not the same spool rate as the 16 xt-r on the ej205. Below is the graph for my 03 WRX, it made 36whp and 32wtq more and it has a catted DP. Also, this is through a 6mt, which has an additional 5% or so of drivetrain loss over the 5mt. Same tuner and shop.

The blue lines is 91 california pump and the red is e85. I'm in Socal, just like you.

I should have been posted this before but 16G-XT-R is the worst turbo I have seen for Subaru.
Any GT30 would spool better than that.

I think when my vf34 bites the bullet, I will pick one of these up. Seems like a great and very responsive, but with a decent amount more flow than my VF. Someone needs to run one of these with E-85!

Im not gonna argue about "Best turbos" anymore as there isn't any "best turbo." Everyone has different OPINIONS. And my personal OPINION is this is my favorite. I've never been one to judge the feel/response/comfort of a car by the max hp line. In all honesty if everyone here is so concerned with getting huge numbers youre driving the wrong car. These aren't 700hp drag monsters.

I'm not looking for the most horse power and I don't care what other turbos have produced because it's not my car or set up. I'm very happy all of you got better numbers, CONGRATULATIONS. Keep it in your pants big boys.

If anyone has questions or something meaningful to add to the thread I'm all ears. Otherwise keep your dyno plots in your own Proven Power thread.

You should edit your original post to say, "in your opinion" (better yet, remove your statement completely), but also how many turbos swaps have even done to come up with that conclusion? Yes it's not about only about #'s, but your 16 xtr does not have better response or spool than the 7760, all the while under performing across the board. So it's clearly not "hands down" the best turbo for...

Hey mate cool your jets. I don't have a drag monster. I am running Super 16G and it spools around 3200/3400 rpm. And I have never been on the dyno but your statement is not true. You said it is the best turbo for smaller motors and i said it is the worst. Thats it.

to the OP...stop worrying what everyone else is saying, 99% of people knew you were joking about "slapping people in the face" and that "the best turbo" was an opinionated response, the ones who are arguing with you are the same who will beat a dead horse over a misspelling

Back on topic...I'm happy to see the numbers you put down. I've got the XTR as well and I'm almost finished collecting the remaining parts for my build. Hoping to install next month. I have slightly more mods than you and less than Unabomber so I'm hoping to fall just above the 300whp mark.

I got one sitting in a box on my floor. That, some Id's, and a fuel pump-going to tuner end of the month. Going on a EJ255.

Thanks man. Are you installing on a 2.0L with 91 as well?

2.0l stock 5speed on 93 octane. Besides the 16g XTR I'll have UEL headers, 650cc injectors, 3 ports ebcs, fuel pump, Cobb bpv, intake, all silicon piping, hyperflow tmic, group n mounts for everything, invidia turbo back exhaust.

I'm hoping for 310 wheel. I'd be very pleased with that haha.

^ I have all of that accept the turbo lol. I can't wait to get rid of the td04. Hopefully I have enough to get the turbo next paycheck or before my birthday.

The only real difference you have over me is the 93oct and aftermarket headers, although they are still UEL. You should be right in the 300 area. Like I said earlier though, dont worry about the power. The feel/response of this turbo is something you can't measure on a dyno. Ball bearing turbos FTW!!

I wonder how this turbo compares to the 16g XT. I'm torn between the two! PRo's and conwise.
