2010 wrx - limited

Default Newbie to this, few questions/ideas. Please Help, TY!

Just bought myself a 2010 wrx black hatch limited, i am very happy with my choice since the 2011s are 100 lbs heavier just for the wide body look. I have the SPT catback which came with the car (less weight/restrictive then 2011+ quad), I want to know what mods are suitable or safe to do to the car. . I want to start off with cosmetics like Carbon fiber hood, lighter rims (i like raijin tunning by enkei) and possibly a way to give it the wider body look (no big deal if not, looks cleaner imo). Then i was looking into perrin mounts such as engine/tranny, etc. to get more power to the wheels, my question on that is even if im not racing will these mounts make my car more reliable in terms of lasting longer since it supports and stops excessive movement? Next is suspension and what kind of mods like lowering to strut bars to making it handle like an STI. I am new so your help is deeply appreciated, sorry for being a newb! I want to do this the right way because i plan on having this for a while to get me through college and have fun at the same time, so what is safe to do (I dont drive stupid, i take care of my cars religously).I have a friend up at bowser who will over look any mods such as intake & down-pipe and stage 2 after that (bigger turbo engine work wont fly warranty wise but he will let those slide) will this rip up the insides of my car? like tranny engine etc or can the stock handle stage 2 with perrin mounts and a NON abusive driver? Thanks ahead of time to anyone who helps me forgive me for i am a newb.

DO PLENTY OF RESEARCH AND READ UNABOMBER'S MANIFESTO IN THE STICKIES.

Your post was kind of hard to read but here's my opinion :

A Stage 2 Set Up is fine. Don't worry about the "wide body look" as there are many cosmetic mods to make the Narrow Bodies look amazing. There are plenty of build threads with 09-10 WRXs that just look fantastic. The "insides" of your car will be "ripped up" if you abuse the **** out of it and throw massive horsepower at it without properly building the engine. Honestly, since you're young like me, A DownPipe and a Tune ( aka Stage 2 ) is just fine for you. I'd also do some suspension upgrades, swaybars, endlinks, springs, those sort of things. Nothing serious, WRXs can easily handle as good as an STi if not better. Stiffer engine and transmission mounts are a nice upgrade, it will make the car more "rigid".

Cliff Notes :

- Stage 2 set up and some suspension upgraedes looks like all you need until you finish school. Although... it's your car, do what you want lol.

Good luck! We're both youngbloods so don't do anything stupid to make the rest of us youngin`s look bad.

Here are some threads you should look at so you can have ideas to make your car "look" better :

There was a guy who had a very sexy 09 or 2010 Hatch in White, I can't find his car though. I can't find any posts of it for some reason.

There are a few Narrow Body Hatchbacks in here :

Also what kind of rims would be best fit/increase handeling as well as ability to lower later on. Like 18x8.75? I like the xxr but idk if the width would fly?..

how do you even think? Run on sentences after another.

Read the manifesto - itll answer all the details
2010 --> 2011 100lbs for wide body and 1/2'' of wheel width

For a college kid, don't go more than a cobb ap and stage 2 OTS maps - powerwise.

Suspension - go with sway bars and if you have more money to burn - spring/strut combo for a DD

Mounts are good but that increases NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) - which isnt as great for a DD. I'd recommend just the tranny mounts if u must.

Best "rims" to increase handling? Probably a light one under 20lbs. Tires matter more.
Refer to the wheel guide

You have a 2010 so your tranny is better than the 02-07's. You should be plenty good with hard driving just try not to dump the clutch or launch it. Then again you can't really put a number on the trannys they're luck of the draw basically. Some will go on a lot less power than the next. Just have to mod with what will make you happy but know that you have that possibility of blowing your tranny so have that pile of money tucked away somewhere for emergency car fixes.

This isn't facebook. Keep your stoner comments out of here

OP, go do loads of research and THEN come ask us questions. FWIW, this is what I did when I went stage 2:

Power- Invidia catted DP, Cobb SF Intake, Grimmspeed EBCS
Handling- 24mm front/ 22mm rear sway bars
Mounts- Kartboy pitch stop, Group-N motor mounts, Group-N tranny mount, Kartboy short shifter w/ bushings
Misc- Defi oil pressure and boost gauges
