Default Recommendations for housing/apts in richardson area?

So I'm making the move to the Dallas, Richardson area to be more exact and looking for housing or apts right now. Any of you guys have recommendations. I only had 2 days to look while I was there checking out the new job. Would appreciate some insight on some places or areas to look.

Thank you

Richardson is hit or miss real estate wise. There are a lot of rundown areas but I would go as far as calling it ghetto. I would suggest Addison, Plano, or Carrollton.

Addison mostly younger professionals and lots of bars and restaurants. The biggest downside is awful traffic during rush hour and a over zealous police department.

Plano is mainly middle and upperclass families. East Plano is older and has a recently resurrected downtown with upscale bars and restaurants. Central Plano is quiet and pretty average. West Plano has pockets of ultra-wealth (It's one of the richest areas of the us) but there rare affordable apartments. West Plano is easily the safest area in Dallas and there are a lot of restaurants too. Plano's downside is that it tends to have generic chain stores and restaurants.

Carrollton is middle class with some blue collar pockets. It's very quiet and affordable and it has a great location. It is very boring, very few bars or entertainment venues. There are a few section 8 apartments bordering Carrollton filled with garbage that Katrina flushed out.

Both Carrollton and Plano have good school districts. Addison uses Dallas isd.

We found a place in north Richardson/south Plano area. Apts seem really nice so we'll see. If its horrible then move in 6 months. I figure the first 6 months will go quickly in an entirely new place and job.
