Default Cash refund at local dealer

Ok I wanted to put sway bar on my impreza and decided not to. The parts were on sale at the time so I figured what the hell I'll do it pay with cash. Then I go to return the parts at the dealer an they charge me a 20% restock fee. The manager tells me I'll be getting a check and not cash and it seemed I had little or no choice at the time. It's been a month and still no refund.
Any suggestions?

Call the dealership and speak to the manager of the parts department?

Hopefully you got some sort of receipt as well.

It's often policy not to return cash on a cash or cash equivalent transaction (debit card run with PIN) to return it as a check from corporate.

The restocking fee is pretty normal - it covers the cost of ordering the part, stocking it, getting it for you , then you changing your mind and bringing it back.

Next time consider selling it? Hope it works out. You can always call corporate and ask about your refund.

I work at a dealership in the parts dept, all that seems normal business for a dealership. If parts were special ordered or over 30 days I can see what the 20% restocking is for. As far as cash, the cashiers usually don't have that much cash to give out after a deposit. We don't give back any cash over the amount of $50.
