Default Chance to buy mint ITR to buy or not to buy?

A friend of mine has a 2001 Integra Type R in Flameco Black it has 11,800 miles on it he has been to the drag strip once and he
has never done any work to it besides a spoon axle back and a K&n drop in filter the car is so mint no swirl marks anywhere ! He has it now with a lease the buy out is 16k

Im debating weather or not to take over the payments 16k for a MINT low mile never been moded itr seems like a great deal.
Figure if i finace it would be for 3 years at about 600 a month with intrest because i dont wanna drag it out with a 5 or 4 year loan.

WHat do you think?

"never been modded"

yet has a catback exhaust.

"only been to the dragstrip once"

famous last words.

"no swirl marks"

um... do you normally expect to see them on a 1 year old car? my 7 year old bimmer doesn't have any either...

sounds like a bad idea to me, assuming you keep your WRX. why on earth would you need one when you have a WRX?

Well, I would do it. Here's the thing, a Type R would be the only ITR that I would get b/c it absolutely does not handle like a FWD car, forget the drag strip, go auto-x, they always kick the hell out of me in my WRX. The down side is that it has a very, very high insurance rate b/c of the high possibility of theft. Your call though.

"The thing about ITRs is that if it is being driven like it was stolen- it probably was."

Yep, an ITR in NYC=trouble. All ITRs end up being stolen, totaled, or both!

Great car though.

Here in southern california a ITR like that w/ THAT low miles would be going for much higher than they sold for new. I'd jump on it from an investment perspective if nothing else.

That or the person has messed with the odo(if it's not the digital). I've heard Honda odometers have ways of being "relatively" easy to tamper with and say turn back the clock a couple thousand miles in the negative direction...

"I was driving it around in reverse for a month to get it back down to 11,000 miles!"

This is a no brainer dude. Go for it! Sell the WRX if you have to. It would be worth it.
