I have never seen a purple H&R spring. I had a set of 02-03 H&R and they were both silver.
I don't remember the part numbers.
I have also never seen a matching set of springs with different colors (although they can be marked with different colors).

when you say purple do you mean dark dark purple? Mine could be that color, but there probably black. When you mean shorter as in the spring has 0 if not negative thread depth when putting the cap on? Mine were just liked that..slammed the thing to the ground and scrapes.. unfortunately, I really don't like them, well...Its more the struts, which is why D-specs and possibly pinks will be replacing the H&R's..

Hey way-way back when in 2002 when I had my NEW 02 Aspen white WRX sedan I had a set of H&R sport springs on it and they were a very dark dark grey or black. Zero purple on them I would run-run from that ebay deal. But I'm trying to remember like 3 WRX/STi ago and a total of 7 Subarus ago. Sorry my memory is good, but I think I would remember purple. I remember I had a lot of purple parts on my FMII turbo Miata. Flyin Miata likes purple. But Im pretty sure NO PURPLE from H/R.

Good luck and be safe.

Get rid of them.
When I installed my set, both the front and back were short enough where you could basically install them without spring compressors and they were both silver.

On a side note, I was not impressed with them. They were too low and too soft. Like Eibach, or Mach V.

I have the H&R OEs and they're silver. Hope that helps.

I didn't check the springs themselves but the box they came in says 54457-55. Good luck.
