Default just got a check engine light on

i was wonder in if anyone knew how to check were the problem was. i don't know an oder of opperations for the check engine code or something.... thanks

There is a port under the dash near the steering wheel column where you plug in an OBD 2 Scantool. This tells you what is wrong. You can go to an Autozone or similar parts store and they will read it for you for free and real fast. Or you can make an appointment at Subaru Service, and they will do it for free but it will probably take 4-hours. The Dealer probably has a manual that can give a them a test flow chart if there is really something wrong. Otherwise the scantool can be used to clear the code so the light goes off.

It may just be the gas cap problem.. some times if you don't screw the cap on tight enough after refueling the CEL will go on and stay on for a few days even.
