Default 06 STI Fuel Filter inlet grommet question

Had to do a pump change at night on the bad side of town. While doing so the grommet on the top of the fuel filter split causing fuel pressure to drop and recirculate in the tank. So i disassembled again and was lucky that the fuel hose i had fit where the grommet was in the top of the filter and did hold pressure for the ride home. I had replaced the filter about 15,000 miles ago. And don't remember if the filter supplied the new grommet. During part supply searches i have noticed no grommets on intank F.Filters while looking at diagrams. What also gets me is while finding a stock Filter on Oakos it noted that the filters inlet grommet was Not included. And so it would be greatly appreciated if anyone that has recently installed a new filter and remembers if the grommet came with it or someone that had a F.F. grommet split on them before chyme in on the subject. Thanks in advance.

Nearest dealer is 180 miles away. Sounds odd huh? They have to order it to see if the grommet is in the kit.

You can also go and or call a dealership near you and ask what the fuel filter comes with. Google can also help. Factory service manuals are out there for subarus as well.

I'm sure every nasioc member checks this forum every 10 mins to make sure questions like yours are answered IMMEDIATELY.

Try calling Cobb out there in TX or any of the Subaru performance shops. Someone out there should know or has a answer.

As for the grommet,,,,. Good luck whoever gets next try on it. Two subaru dealers both came to the same conclusion. The parts diagram indicates a "spring"? in the place where the grommet should be. The diagram is vague in its reference to the STI model. Had one of them check the only 05 STI filter he had and no dice either. No grommet in the filter kit. So now i have followed some of the filter delete thread and purchased a reusable filter with a stainless 40 micron screen that has a 6AN size inlet and outlet with a length no longer than 5". Coupled with two 6AN male to 5/16 barbed fitting threaded in both ends of the new filter. Had to do this because the filter used in the "delete" thread is out of stock at the two online stores i could find it at and couldn't get hold of the mfg company via phone or email. Better luck who ever gets this adventure next.
