Default Advice on hardwiring

Hey guys,

I did some searching, but I didn't quite find my application. Forgive me if I missed it.

I'm a wiring noob (Subaru noob as well) so I'm looking for pointers from those of you who have hardwired your electronics to the fuse box. If you have, what have you used?

I'm looking to hardwire a DVR so I don't have to use the cigarette lighter and adapter. The DVR needs 5V not 12V and through USB. So I found this step-down converter:

And I'll connect it to an Add-a-Fuse:

Let me know if this is sound. Please let me know if I have missed a step or if I need something else.

Thanks

looks right to me, just cut the wires, solder them up and your good to go. but what's the point of having a DVR in the car? not being a douche, i'm honestly trying to figure out your application

Get an ordinary car cell phone adapter with a USB output. If it's USB, it's 5 volts.
Current is so low, specified by the USB design requirements, I wouldn't bother running a separate fuse, I would tap it into any switched 12 volt line in the car.

It's my first one, so I went with a low budget mirror style. Like this one:

I haven't received it yet, but it's from eBay. Just ordered it the other day and it's coming from China.
