The craziest I've had the pleasure of being a part of. Needles to say it's turning into its less mature cousin. H20, hate to say I may not go again until later in life sad I've been going 15 years.

I agree, I'm in the older crowd I feel like. Im 32 with two kids. Now my car probably screams much younger hahah. However had I heard one more Atmospheric Bov this weekend I would have lost my mind. Granted I'm set up that way but I have no other choice. Lol

It's getting bad, I agree. I believe there is a clear distinction from those of us in the 25+ age group and then there is the <25 age group.

I don't really care so much about what people do to their cars because it's their property but the bad behavior and general ownership stupidity is what gets to me.

I also get annoyed when you're talking to owners and you ask what they have done and they don't even know what parts are on their car or what the parameters of their tune are....

I'm heading down to the Ocean City Car and Truck Show since that is part of the OCAWD Meet this year and I'm hoping for a more mature crowd.

I would have to say the oc car and truck show is probably worse. Due to the fact it's also Senior Week for 90% of MD high schools. So if you want to avoid the young crowds haha maybe fall cruise weekend is the ticket. Usually it's colder and it's a much older hot rod crowd as well. About the only thing worth my time any more are local cars and coffee. Young kids aren't up early enough bawahaha. I have a 3 and a 1 year old so if I get to 7:45 it's amazing.

I've been hearing this unfortunately. I typically go to the OCAWD Meet every year because I have a free place to stay for the week at my cousin's condo and usually out at Gateway Subaru the event is under control. If the OCAWD meet is the same weekend as WBM next year I may head up there instead just to avoid the younger crowd.

yeah the C&C and my area is about all I go to anymore. I try to hit the big events like Boxerfest, OCAWD, and WBM but that's about it. C&C is more relaxed and I don't have to worry about the car considering there are Ferraris, LFA's and the like there.

Bummer about OCAWD. The big benefit to being at Gateway was no coastal highway traffic around the meet. This will be the first year I'm not attending since 2012.

I can tell the event is getting a bit less Subaru Centric. I haven't even seen a thread here on NASIOC about the event yet and its in 2 weeks.

Things like this worry me.

Let's promote drinking and driving.... that's smart... -_-;

With the oc awd meet being not in OC you may be safe. Although once you go back to OC, I'd say that is the point of contention. I've never been able to go to the awd meet due to my car always being broken or scheduling conflicts. I have been to the OC car show back in my younger days it used to be the Funk Master Flex OC car show haha. I'm all about some old school FmF. I'm not about his car shows. Lol it reminds me of the Hot Import Nights shows.
I've noticed in the last five to ten years a huge shift in the car community. I'm not to sure I like it. I've been turning wrenches most of my life and professionally for 15 years. All the "old" guys see it and say its generational. I tend to agree. Not pointing fingers at any one sub group is hard. I think it's just our community in general. In ancient times cars got built without the internet. You would build by trial and error. Do a mod if it didn't react the way you wanted back to the drawing board. I used to Swiss cheese the air box in every car I owned lol. If it wasn't for guys with a passion to make a difference we would be no where near our current state of modifications. I look back to the 50's and 60's you had guys like the suffers. Pretty much invented tuned port injection without the help of any one but each other. They raced and destroyed other teams left and right and would never tear down between rounds. it wasn't about who was widest, who made the most power, who is lowest and so on and so fourth. For all the good things the Internet has done for our community it's also done a bunch of bad. Forget search buttons go out with a test light and figure it out, if not ask for help from someone local and learn. Use the forums as another tool but also take them with a grain of salt.
