Don't mind me...just chillin with my Nikon d300 over here. I'm not fancy...because I have too many expensive hobbies. Cars...then guns...then maybe photography if there is money left. I'm married...so there's never leftover money.

If you shoot with canon I really suggest the 40mm STM. It's like a 62mm on a APC sensor, it is usable at f2.8 and I found the sweet spot at about F4. It honestly has amazing sharpness and color for a $150 lens. Build quality is..well it's a pancake lens so don't expect much. I'd rather have this than a kit lens that's for sure.

Abacus is awesome. I dropped my heads off to have the valves tipped and they were done the next day. Now I need a new headgasket since I already had the heads torqued. Nonetheless..I see the light at the end of the tunnel.. Over a year since I started planning the build now
Abacus is who I plan on going with to get some valve work done and the motor reassembled. Do they have reasonable rates?

My heads were built by a shop in ATL. When I went to set lash I couldn't fit the smalled feel gage when the .468'' bucket was installed. So the shop screwed up.

Seth at Abacus quoted me 2 hours but ended up needing 4. $320 to cut the valves.. plus I need a few new buckets.

They probably are more expensive than your average shop but they are certainly competent which makes them worth the extra few bucks.

320 to do the lash on both heads? That's actually lower than I was expecting. I recently destroyed my passenger side head and met someone who will give me relatively fresh heads. They just need the valve lash done. Phew, that's relieving.

The II has a few more elements and is lighter.. They're both amazing lenses but the II bloody expensive.

And I didn't think being a camera nerd made you a tough guy.

It's not like I came in here saying I have a new Leica M or something ;-)
I was just joking. I have a Canon 5D (classic) with a 50mm f/1.8II for now. I sold all my good stuff a few years back since I thought I was done with the whole photography thing. My equipment consisted of a Canon 5D, 40D, XT, 24-70mm f/2.8L, 135mm f/2.0L, Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8, and Sigma 10-20mm.

And like I said it took a day..

Are you getting the valves tipped? The reason mine took an extra 2 hours was he needed to take everything apart.

I bought my mkii broken and haven't sent it to be fixed yet. I was rockin' the original 5d for a while. I miss FF since I am only using the 60d now..

I want that 135mm

Not entirely sure what exactly has to be done. He said cobb rebuilt them 17k miles ago but messed up the lash.

What year are the heads?

Setting lash is easy enough to do on your own.

Back on topic: My father in law said he would buy me a 24-70mm f/2.8L II for a wedding gift. He was a pro-photographer in Jeju, S. Korea for a while and has a hookup or something for equipment. I think he also said something about letting me borrow his 200mm f/1.8L when he came to visit us in June. Something about wanting nice pictures of his future grandchildren....

Those are even easier to set lash on.

If you want to try out the 24-70 first let me know.

It's a great lens but so damn expensive.. I cried a little when I bought it.

I'm not buying it... It's really the only way that I can afford it, too but yeah he said he wants to give me one, so I'll gladly take it.

Random stuff. I used to take pictures of my daily activities when I was in Korea, but now it's mainly pictures of my house, car, wife, and dog.
