Default NEW 2013 wrx subaru owner. NEED HELP!

Hello everyone, I just bought my first and new 2013 subaru wrx hatch. I'm in the market for a few mods. The car already came with a sti 5 speed short shifer and i want a better exhaust sound. I need to know what a good cbe would be. SPT, Perrin, or COBB?

I'd say go with a Invidia Q300 and Accessport.

Thank you for your input. I have been researching exhausts and everything. I'm now leaning towords the Invidia Exhaust, sounds nice and not too loud. Thanks again!

Congrats on the purchase!

Q300 is a great exhaust for the looks/sound combo but the drone can be a little loud IIRC

Drone is the sound that exhausts make when your just cruising along at like 2-3k RPM or at highway cruising speeds, some exhausts can be too loud at those times and can get annoying on long trips. and IIRC means "If I Remember Correctly"

Why would you flash an ap tune on a new car under warranty and void any engine coverage? Stock tunes are ****, but that's still a pretty bad idea, financially.

Also, as far as catback exhausts go, loud isn't always a terrible thing. Your car won't be ridiculously loud with any cbe unless you pipe through the muffler or something. That being said, I really like the greddy ti-c racing exhaust (have it on my car) or the invidia n1. Both are fairly similar and sound great.

+1 stay stock tune is the best way to go on a brand new car, for now.
CBE will not be too loud or drone unless cat less down pipe is added. There are many exhaust brand out there and people will tell you this one or that one will sounds better. It's best that you attend some local meets, that way you'll know how some of them will sound. Chances are, not every wrx/sti at the meet will have the same brand.
Congrats and good luck.

Get a used or new spt for your 5 door. Factory parts, decent quality, no resistance from soa, cheaper than the big names. Pow.

Thanks everyone for your input, I have been researching and doing some YouTube clips of exhausts. I found a tuning shop down in portland (PRE) and this week I am going to go see what they have and talk to them. As for a AP i probably won't do that till way down the road, as of right now just a cbe and a few exterior things for now. Thank you guys again for the help!

I got mine with the SPT because I got VIP pricing on it and the car, so basically my options were free. Having driven it for 13k now, had I paid out of pocket for it, I would be seriously dissatisfied in my purchase. It's too quiet and a little too smooth sounding for me. YMMV.

Definitely hear some in person before you drop cash in hand on one.

If you can work it into the deal, absolutely go SPT. If you're paying outright, look elsewhere.

I'm a big fan of my nameless. It's a little louder than stock while cruising but when you get on it...man it sounds nice.

The only other one I've really had a chance to hear in person is the Q300. I liked it. It didn't seem as deep as the SPT (it had also just been installed a few days prior - not sure if those have to break in or not), but definitely louder - not obnoxiously so, though. I didn't get a chance to ride on the highway in that car, though - just around the block.

I was hoping mine would just get a tad louder with mileage, as I like the tone, but it has not.

I'd say go with invidia q300 you wouln't regret it awesome sound, I also have a hatch and there is no drone what so ever in mine. Exhaust isn't that loud but when you get on it, it just sounds mean.

How far are you from Portland, OR. See if you can go to the Nameless Performance shop. I just put one of their products on my 2013 Hatch and it is pretty awesome.

Nobody said Borla either, though I think the Borla exhaust sounds the best of any Subaru exhaust I've heard. It's also not as common, and has a wonderful tone in all driving conditions.

Borla exhaust is one of my favorite mods, 70k+ miles later.

Here's another +1 for Nameless. I just put an axleback on my 2013 hatch a week ago. Its the version with 5" inch mufflers and quad 3.5" single wall staggered tips. It's amazing.

First thing I did to my 2013 Hatch was a muffler delete. I made my own, Its 3.5" Staggered double walled, for 250 bucks

It sounds better than nameless mainly due to its 2.5" piping. Its not that loud as well, though there is some drone but I dont mind it.

+1

I have been thinking about getting an axle back made for the SPT midpipe. No one makes one, and it's not worth it to me me to drop a grand on it right now.
