Question Clock always off

I've owned two Imprezas, a 2002 Impreza Outback Sport and a 2012 Impreza Premium.

I don't have OEM-GPS in either. I was just curious to see if anyone else's clock ALWAYS runs fast? It seems over time, my clock ends up running +/- 5 minutes fast. Anyone else notice this?

Yes, my 2012 impreza premium gradually gets ahead. I'd estimate as much as 1 minute a week. I usually reset it every other week by ~2 minutes. I work in radio, and listen to my station. Our breaks are hard timed with GPS time sync, and I know they're accurate with 8 seconds of delay.

Glad to know I'm not alone. I use my iPhone's clock to set it, so if that is deviating, then...well, no, it doesn't deviate.

If you watch the commercials it makes perfect sense. In a span of 25 seconds a puppy grows into a dog, and a guy meets a girl, and then they are married, and have kids, and an old dog.

Obviously the Impreza is a time machine that accelerates the space/time continuum. We are luck to have one, unless you were trying to get younger...

My clock is pretty wrong.

To make it even worse, my aftermarket pioneer head unit has its own clock, which is wrong in the other direction. They're around 4 minutes off from each other now. It's just hopeless.

Considering at work we spent ~$800 for a high internal stability clock card for our main computer system, and you can easily spend twice that for a very high stable card, I doubt the clock in our cars has a $800 module to keep it that accurate =)

The high stability 1 option we use at work is rated at +- 3 seconds per year drift. The HSO option 2 is rated at +- 0.3 per year. Another price level beyond that, that they don't even quote, is +-1.5ms per year.

Cant say that I've had a problem with my clock getting ahead or falling behind. It always stays synced up with my phone clock.

I'm sure Albert Einstein has an explanation for this.
