Default Just another reason I will never take my car back to this body shop.

I guess sometimes you have to learn the hard way to never trust a shop to do the job right and always recheck your lug nut torque yourself.

Could have been much worse but I'm still incredibly pissed off.

Advantage Collision in Richmond. The lugs were all there when I picked it up about ten days ago. It's just been a never ending headache. Repeat visits to redo the paint work and had to have this rim in question refinished about a half a dozen times to get the gold to match.

Yeah I notified ICBC about the situation although they are very reluctant to acknowledge the likelihood it was the shops fault. And the girl on the phone wasn't very bright last night, she couldn't wrap her head around the fact that cars have more than one lug nut per wheel and kept asking me if all three wheels were missing the lug nut.

Lol what a horror show icbc must just hate you by now! Haha. But seriously some basic knowledge of vehicles would be nice out of employees at an AUTO INSURANCE company.

All the mods shop or ICBC body shop should tell you that you always need to retorque wheel lugs after 500kms.

I believe body shops make you sign off on the work saying it meets your standards (for ICBC), but some shove it in your face before you've even seen your car when it's done to get you outta there...

I'd go back to the very ICBC building you had your car inspected and ask to speak to your adjustor in person.

Inform the shop of what happened. Ask them where they want the car towed for the repair or tell them where you want it to go.

If they stand behind their work this problem should disappear very quick if not then contact ICBC. ICBC will always allow the shop to make good and if you still have a problem then you can take it futher with them(ICBC).

PS. Why did you choose this shop for repair? Are they ICBC accredited etc.?

They are an Icbc express shop that I have dealt with one before with a job well done. The hubby works in auto sales & sends them a lot of business without an issue. He's severely disappointed with how terribly this claim has turned out.

Yeah...so if anybody knows a good bodyshop in Richmond that would be happy to have referrals from Richmond Honda, lemme know I'll pass on the info since Advanced Collision will no longer be his body shop referral.

Regarding the original work, I haven't even signed off on it yet because of the back and forth having to have the paint work re-done...I wanted to give it a bit and see if the paint on the bumper stress cracked again because I wasn't confident they hadn't permanently warped the bumper during the original repair.

It just really sucks when a company you have a professional relationship with completely lets you down when you bring your own personal vehicle in for work. The shoddy work was one thing, but a near miss on a catastrophic accident is just completely unacceptable.

Does the body shop need to be in Richmond? I deal with a fantastic body shop on Main Street in Vancouver called Automind Collision. Very professional, quick, and even apply you with picture (time stamped) updates of your vehicle.... I deal with Eric or Paul.. Highly recommended!

Sorry to hear about your incident,

I know the owner of Advantage Collision and I have also taken my car there for bodywork. The work they do is decent, and I have no major complaints.

My workplace also has a relationship with them as we have vehicles that often need repairs.

They are a good shop and what's happened has happened. If it is a mistake on their part, I believe that they will help resolve the problem ASAP.

Hopefully your matter will be resolved quickly!

Fast track Autobody +2.

I've had my car in twice and have never been disappointed. Andrew and Ben know customer service and will take care of you

I have been dealing with the owner directly, and as I said have had a positive experience in the past. But this time the ball has been dropped on multiple occasions with sub par paint work & reassembly, having the rim repainted repeatedly (technically not their fault directly but still frustrating) and now a critical error affecting the safety of my vehicle.

They just seem to have some major quality control issues and I'm not super impressed with their response to the situation thus far either. I just want this whole thing over and done for good and my car back in one piece.

You mean they will actually call you when your car is ready instead of it sitting all day.....

Automind, Bismark, and Fast Track are all decent places that have good quality control with the work they do.

Sorry to hear so many bad things happen to your ride, it was a beauty the last time I saw it.

no one is mentioning theft yet?

I had a LONG time ago the same thing, but it was some a-hole trying to rip off my wheels and got scared (kids most likely).

doesn't necessarily have to be the shops fault.

just saying.

Yes there is a marginal possibility that's what happened, the fact that it is the only rim that was removed as part of the repair, the wheel lock is one of the three studs that are off & the only two places the car gets left for an extended period of time are at my house & in a locked & patrolled parking garage puts that as the far far less likely scenario.

And none of the tell tale scratches on the rim that you usually see from breaking off a locking nut.

Well after having a lot of sunshine and getting a look at the "redone" paintwork on my car it's definitely time for an ICBC reinspection. A thin spray of paint to cover what I complained about the first time makes for one unhappy customer.

I just want my car back to how it was before it got smashed.
