If it's actually like that and has at least 300 hp in wrx form, then I'm thinking I'll get one, it'll complement my "classic " bugeye.

Tweet from SOA this morning:

@subaru_usa: T-minus three hours until the reveal of the XV Crosstrek Hybrid and a very special performance concept. #SubaruHybrid #NYIAS

As far as I know the new body style is debuting next year for the 2015 model year. And yes I think the '14 will look like the '13.

Ehhh they could've done better. The roof line is too low, the windshield is too raked back and the front is too short. It looks like a 4 door brz now. Hopefully they will change it before selling it

Agreed entirely. It's no plunky little rally car, that's for sure. It looks like it's trying to run with the detriot retro muscle.

You guys... tsk tsk tsk lol

Everyone was about to jump off a cliff hearing rumors about what this car might be and look, and they give you something safe and easy on the eyes and you still complain.

cmon, it could have been baaad. This isnt terrible.

And obviously its going to change, at least a little.

It may not be a rally-looking car, but its less boy-racer and more refined and classy.

Did you even look at the photo. It's much less classy than the 2011-13 hatch. And I think it looks way more tacky and ricy. Looks like a TC with a boy racer body kit.

Next they will tell us is RWD and Tokyo drift.

carbon fiber roof? 20" rims? massive brakes? led headlights/taillights? I'm sure that won't make it into the production car without the base price climbing to 45k+

Hence the term "concept." But some of those things are more affordable than you'd think. I doubt Subaru is that stupid to raise the price on its best selling car by that much. It would alienate the vast majority of their market.

Oh you might be surprised.

Subaru has long wanted to ditch the "boy-racer" persona of the WRX/STI, and from what I see of this concept that is their intention. One way to do that is make it more refined, and price it out of their reach. It would not be a shock to me at all to see this new WRX priced in the mid 30's, with the STI at 40k+. Subaru does not make huge money on their performance offerings, and the vast majority of Subaru's customers could care less about the WRX/STI. Their bread and butter is the Forester, Outback, and NA Impreza.

Subaru no longer has the tough rally-inspired image they used to. Now the guys buying their performance cars are brotatos with flat bill caps. Would you want that image for your company?

Boy-racers can afford $25k cars?

You must not go to many Subaru meets. Yes, they can. 25k is cheap when it comes to an automobile.

But it's more the image Subaru wants to shed ... this is no secret and has been stated flat out by their big wigs for years.

that's pretty damn ugly. does not look like a rally-car nor does it look capable of such heroic off-road endeavors we so joyfully associate with past generation Impreza's. Hell, it doesn't even look like it will drive off-road.

Meh I think I'll stick with my 08. Car looks too average now and seems to be really big? Dunno guess will see it in person but I thought they would do much better and try and make something new and exciting. This is more Toyota than Subaru from a looks standpoint.
