1/3 of your gross monthly is irresponsible IMO. 1/3 of your net monthly is cutting it close if you have normal expenses/debt and are saving a fair amount.

Regardless, this thread is about the new WRX concept. I like it, keeping in mind that the production car will change (softer body lines, smaller wheels).

ok I have a question for you guys from a n00b

it seems to me like a lot of the OG GD owners like the new look and would consider buying it if the production model looks similar and performance numbers are good. but, it looks as if subaru is focusing more on the driving aspect rather than power numbers with the wider wheel base, carbon fiber roof, lowering the height, etc... (if all these features make it to the production model). so my question is; what if hp/tq was LOWER or the same as GRs but the 'driving experience' was much better a la FRS/BRZ, would you be in favor of that or rather have 350bhp?

Everyone knows what the engine is going to be already. They use it in Japan on the Legacy and here on the BRZ (NA version) and 14 Forester XT. It's a turbo 2.0 that puts out 250hp/250tq in the Forester. I would suspect the WRX to be a bit more powerful, but no one knows yet. Those of you wishing for forged internals and 350hp are dreaming, but the good news is that the new motor seems to be quite strong.

As for this new WRX, it's a concept car ... the production version will not have a carbon roof, and will look a bit different. I suspect the car will look similar to the concept since it's been so well received, just not exactly the same because it would be impossible to pass safety tests and such.

It's a no-brainer that this new WRX will be focused on "driving experience", and likely be a strong performer all around. But it looks to me that Subaru is focusing more on paved tracks, and not Rally, on this new car with it's low and wide profile.

We all know Subaru says one thing then does another. All I can say is its not worth worrying and digging for info you won't find. Just wait till its produced. I have my 04 sti and yeah it's old, but I really like this new concept, there are also some things I don't like. Does that mean I'm going to ditch my 04 and buy this brand new one? No, I think there are pros and cons with everything. I think Subaru are moving forward but you have to remember its getting harder and harder to be unique in today's market with cars

I'm not sure if you are being serious or not. Its been known for at least the last year or more that this was coming down the pipeline for 2015 model year cars.
I have no regrets buying a 2013 WRX as this was what I wanted. Had the redesign been a 2013 model then I'd have to really hard time deciding between the old style versus the new.
I'm not going to lie, I am really looking forward to seeing how the new 2.0 liter performs as well as seeing what changes they are going to make to the suspension and drive train.
Maybe after a couple years of seeing these cars out on the road and on the internet/magazines they'll grow on me. But as of the present I have no regrets as I love the quirkiness of the current Subaru design and have no impulse to change any time soon.

Oh I would not say that.

I really like my GR, and have zero regrets buying it. I do like the direction Subaru is going with the WRX though, so I am keeping a close eye on the devolpment of this car. However, I'm not naive enough to think what they showed on the show floor in NY is exactly what we will see in the production version.

I would not buy the first model year of this new WRX, so that puts me at the 2016 MY ..... Perfect time to trade in my 12 if I decide to do so.

A Subaru owner telling another Subaru owner that their car is ugly. Interesting...

I just ordered '13 3 weeks ago, am I regretting that decision after this "prototype" is displayed? Not in the slightest. I love the styling of the current hatch. Especially since the '11 facelift. I am interested in what subaru plans on bringing out in the future, but I can't wait to get my dream car.

Just one of the reasons why I got rid of my 2012 STI Limited...while it's still worth some money (trade-in value was higher than I thought it would be).

I really hope the new model is not just a souped up econobox, and the interior has the same fit n' finish of the BRZ. The cheap noisy interior of my STI was my biggest gripe...that and my 2008 Evo X GSR handled better.

Even if this car does come out and ends up looking EXACTLY like the concept does- I'll still wait a year before buying one, just to make sure they get all the bugs worked out of it first.

I also own a GR WRX and have no regrets about buying one. I do like the new concept ,however that in no way causes me to regret my purchase. I love the sound of the engine when it fires up , love driving it , and actually just like to look at it. You don't buy a wrx purely for its looks , there are multiple better looking cars in the 30,000 range but none is the same quality , speed , and handling package that the wrx is.
