I'm digging it! Good work VW. I like the gradual evolution of the appearance.

Yea the specs are online there. I think they're a couple hundred pounds lighter.

Nevermind, the new Golf looks to be only a little lighter.

Underwhelming as always. However, I do applaud the more retro styled shape.

Agreed. Although it is interesting they decided not to continue the body line through the rear quarter panel like the previous models. (well the mk4 didn't have it either)

Is it just me or does it looks like they are going backwards several generations? The generation using the Audi style grills were the ones that looked more modern.

That driver did a terrible job in both cars. He screwed up the first turn with the ST by cutting in too soon and hit the curb far to much. It threw the car off course and far wide. That alone is almost the full 1.8 seconds of lost time lol.

Nice track comparison, looks like the GTI was a bit more to control around the track than the ST. I suspect that the Ford had a lot of electronic breaking on the inside wheel to induce the rear to come out more.

Considering how much more power the ST has that is impressive.

both are totally a blast to drive... no real losers there.

But during the fast sweepers that focus MOVED

Don't care. It's a clean, classic but maybe outdated design. I prefer this to the some of the American and Korean competition (I'm looking at you, moron Ford dash designers).

If you can't see how they are different, then maybe you should get an eye exam immediately. Not every car company or enthusiast needs to have a loud, busy, radically different design to keep people interested in their cars. Clean, classic design language has its place and its fans. The GTI has a lot of history and heritage; it is a classic, an icon. It certainly works for another classic, iconic, timeless car, the Porsche 911. There are plenty of other options out there for people who want a more over-the-top/look-at-me/extreme experience in their daily driver.
