If they dont toss a hatch concept up by fall I doubt they will produce one this time around.

The logic behind that statement is the fact that they already have 3 hatches other than the current WRX in their line up creating no need to bastardize their new purpose built performance car by adding weight, raising the center of gravity and making the car look like a bag of asses.

looking at side shots of it I think a hatch in the sense of what people here tend to want in a hatch design (which the current model does perfectly)would only hurt the cars performance and appearance with those body lines and the car's dimensions. If anything the only hatch that would look right is a fastback, the funny and ironic part is it would most likely end up being a fastback coupe and not a 4 door wagon.

If you are dead set in a performance hatch then buy the current model before the new one is released.

I already know some die hard hatch fan is going to produce some form of internet vomit consisting of what they consider a logical response of what subaru should do with the WRX/STI knowing they already produce models that fill that niche in the first place.

Want a turbo hatch that gets good mileage then buy an outback.

I would guess that if there is a hatch version it will be a 2-door. That is based on no actual knowledge, mind you. Merely because, given the current field in rally cross and WRC, it's the best package for competition.

That makes sense, subaru corp doesn't want to cannibalize their hatch sales.

I have a forester xt with a full sti suspension, so it meets my turbo hatch needs =)..

I understand how diehards might not be happy but Subaru is changing and I don't mean that in such a negative way.

Subaru defiantly nailed it. I love how aggressive it looks. I really doubt that the CF roof and BBK will be on the base WRX. You never know though.... got my fingers crossed.

I know and if they do I don't see them pricing it under $30k . But if it does I can only imagine what the upgrades will be on the STI.

This looks pretty damn nice. Just have to hope it stays true to form for production release. I am sure it won't be 100% ported over to the model, but I'll take 90%.

personal tastes. i liked the bugeyes the most, eagle eyes, and the the GR hatches, but disliked the GR sedans.

the current concept is great too but not my cup of tea - reminds me too much of a scion tc.

While this Concept is awesome, I wonder how similar it will be to the production version.

- Bigger wheel gap
- 17" wheels
- Raised suspension
- Larger Mirrors
- Less complicated rear lights
- Toned down diffuser
- No carbon roof

That would be my biggest fear with this car. I like the look of this concept, very different and new, yet I was all about the FR-S concept in the same way... and the production was hardly even the same car in form.

With that level of detail, there is no way we'll be seeing sub 30k unless its another rattly piece of crap like the previous generations.
