Lightbulb TXIC Bike Junkies

Well, I figured since we've got a thread for everything else, why not have one for all of the cyclists in TXIC?

So here it is, post about anything/everything involving bikes. If there's a ride you want people to know about, you have a question about parts, or even if you've got questions about getting into biking, this is the place. Mountain, road, fixie, whatever you please.

Bike Barn puts on a monthly ride, the February ride is this Sunday (Feb 8) out in Brookshire. It's a free ride, I know Milin, TJ, and I are planning to ride so if anyone else is interested feel free to join.

it can go fast, it can go on dirt trails. That bike can pretty much do everything. I could probably take it off of 15 foot drops without smashing it.

We just need to find you a set of badass wheels and your rig will be complete.

I had a new trackbike built... I'll get some "good" pics of it shortly.

I really need to start riding again.

I think I am gonna go check out the new BMX track that supposedly opened up near me again. Get my body back used to the motions before I break out the mtn bike then road bike.

I ride a bike that has a motor on it so I don't have to pedal, does that count?

I'm a biking noob. I still have my Huffy mountain bike in the garage. But I would like to get a okay bike to start. I have no idea what I need to get. A road bike is what I'm looking for. And that's about all I know. Help me you bike whores.

Well, it really depends on how much you want to spend and what you want to do. If you just want something to tool around on and maybe get a ride in here or there, hit up Craigslist and you can easily find something for less than $500. I went and bought a nice entry-level bike at Bike Barn because I want to have a good bike for distance rides. Curt is also currently helping me put together a single-speed road bike to poodle around on.

I'm probably the biggest bike junkie here, but I can't ride my bikes. My doctor took me off them because of a bulging disc in my back.

I love BMX! I did a few races when I was kid nothing special. I bought a 24inch cruiser Haro a few years back. I need to get on it as well .

That's the only one that is off limits. You can ride any of the other bikes in my garage.

he said bulging.

I've been watching cl for a cheap ass road bike, but they are all priced way over what they should be. $75 for a schwinn 10spd. blah.

I still haven't made it over to a salvation army to look over their wares, but I need to.

What about bike swap meets in houston, where one could find some piece of **** road bike.
