Default I need help 04 sti

Hi,

I recently bougth a 2004 sti and I need help. The car has a weird noise that seems to come from the middle to back of the car. When i ask the owner he told me that it was a loose bumper and when I shaked the bumper it sounded about the same. Still I went with someone that is a mechanic and has an sti to check the car after that and He drove the car and check it out and said the car was excellent, specially motor and trasmission, apart from some other minor issues that I had already identified.

One of those was an abs light that he told me they had told him it was a loose sensor and reading on the forums I found that plausible after having someone checked out the car I decided to buy it. Another was a dccd light that was on but since the owner of the sti didn't say anything i thought it was a light telling that that was where the dccd info was. (Looking back at it now i know that seems stupid but i'm new to the sti so I'll put it to ignorance to try and make myself feel better)

However driving it this week I've come to notice that the sound doesn't seem to be the loose bumper. I started to think it was the rear suspension but last night thinking it could be one of the differentials (hence my new found knowledge about the dccd light). Please help me out with what that light means. Could it be tied to the abs light? Or is the differential doomed and I need a new one?

Ps could a fluid change help? This is on the plans but I'm correcting some other stuff and was leaving the fluid change to may 5. Also car only reads 25k + miles on the odometer. Owner says that when he bought it the car had 21k miles so I took it at face value.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

So is this the right forum to ask this or should I be asking this somewhere else?

Mods please feel free to move it to the correct forum if this is not it.
