Default AWD Twin-Turbo Convertible two-seater Diesel Hybrid BRZ for sale in 2015

SOA issued a press release today at http://media.subaru.com/pressrelease...ble-two-seater.

SUBARU SURRENDERS AND CONFIRMS AWD TURBO CONVERTIBLE TWO-SEATER DIESEL HYBRID BRZ
- Maker Gives in And Admits Everything

Cherry Hill, N.J., - Bowing to continued media and internet speculation, Subaru of America has confirmed that it will launch an AWD Twin-Turbo Convertible two-seater Diesel Hybrid BRZ for sale in 2015. The new model essentially takes all of the media and internet rumors surrounding the highly successful BRZ sports car and delivers them in one fell swoop.

A spokesman for the company said: “Having just launched the current model to widespread critical acclaim, we are tired of fighting off the constant speculation about what’s “next” and so we are just giving in and delivering all the speculation in one vehicle.”

The new model, which is expected to have a starting price, will however NOT come with a much anticipated rear back-up camera. The spokesman confirmed that after shoehorning two convertible switched (up and down) onto the fascia there just wasn’t room for any more instruments. The AWD Turbo Convertible two-seater Diesel Hybrid BRZ will come in a single color, noseeum black and will be hand produced at Subaru’s Brigadoon facility.

More denials about future BRZ variants can be found at media.subaru.com

Not their best one, by far, but still pretty good.

He also confirmed the WRX would not be produced as a hatchback this time around as “performance cars are more defined in the sedan segment”.

But due to the popularity of hot hatches in various markets around the world such as Europe and Australia, it is unclear if Mr Doll was talking in the context of his native North American market.

“For the new generation we are moving away from the five-door style,” he said. “Because performance cars are more defined in the sedan segment.
Sorry.

I think I'm going to go get a lobotomy so I can enjoy sedans and reality TV, since that stupid s*** is all there is.

This would only be funny if it wasn't something they should actually consider. Minus the twin turbo.

Fixed.

Clever, but typos detract from the joke. And a real press release quoting an unnamed source (that in itself unlikely) would say "spokesperson" rather than "spokesman".

Neener.

One peeved writer at Topspeed was irritated enough by this press release to write about it.
Quote:
Apparently, the press folks over at Subaru missed April Fool’s Joke 101 in school, as they attempted to fool us about a new BRZ that was coming out. The “press release” stated that an AWD Diesel Hybrid BRZ was to be released by 2015. Sounds like a great Joke, right?

Sure, it is a great premise for a joke — it almost caught us off-guard — but they completely missed the mark, in our opinion.

First of all, you never want to place a fake press release with the date of “April 1, 2013” when it is only Mach 31st – that’s a dead giveaway. Secondly, you’ve gotta make it somewhat believable. Word it like any other press release and don’t get all cheeky in the release – that just gives it away before you even finish reading it. Lastly, don’t let people know it’s an April Fool’s Day joke until the next day or at least for a few hours, unless it is something that can really cause issues.

Well, Subaru managed to break all three of those rules with their release on the “new” BRZ Hybrid Diesel. I guess we have to give them credit for showing a sense of humor…
I would point out that SOA issued its April Fool press release on March 30, TWO days ahead of the hallowed day. That's an especially grievous April Fool Day sin in my book.

Here's why: 1. Journalists want the release a few days ahead to get them ready for release to the wider public on Monday. (you guys pulled this from our media site) 2. It is also a weekend so more time is needed. 3. They are supposed to be hard to believe as media need to know they are posting a faker: others have made seemingly believable releases only to incur the wrath of duped journos. The idea is NOT to trick people, it's to make them smile, hopefully at some irony or other.

You can't do what Topspeed suggests and make them seem real. The trick is to make them relatively believable in the first sentence, only to become more absurd as they are read through; by the end it should be obvious, otherwise it's just a lie. :-)

Jalopnik, after noting SOA's press release was issued TWO days early, had some fun with it at http://jalopnik.com/what-the-diesel-...-loo-464783234.

What The Diesel Hybrid Convertible Subaru BRZ Would Look Like If It Wasn't A Joke

Even if it came a few days early, I think most of us got a big kick out Subaru's April Fool's Joke last night when they announced they would be making a turbo diesel hybrid convertible BRZ with all-wheel-drive. But what would this kitchen-sink approach to sports car manufacturing look like if it was real?

Because our friends at Autoemo were kind enough to cook up this render for us, now we know. It's not far off from the forthcoming Scion FR-S convertible, but there are some fun touches here, like the Boxer Diesel badge on the back and the decal on the gas cap.

Makes you wonder how much this bad boy would cost if it were real. I'd put it pretty close to $40,000 with all that stuff on it. Any thoughts? And would you want one if it wasn't a joke?

It's painfully obvious this writer at Jalopnik has a poor grasp on how the subjunctive mood should be expressed in English, but I applaud him for cranking out such nifty images so quickly on Easter weekend. Imagine how much more effective SOA's April Fool joke release would have been if it had included such graphics.

Rule #1 for April Fool Day joke press releases: THEY MUST BE DATED APRIL 1. If you feel compelled to issue one earlier, then emblazon it in red with "EMBARGOED UNTIL APRIL 1, 12:01 AM ET."

I would of so bought one if this was actually true. Performance AWD Diesel car in North America would be so sick

Cocoa - you mean sending it early actually allowed Jalopnik to have some fun with it and create even more coverage.
