What in the hell typing style is that...

Here's how to fix it.
1) Use punctuation to separate sentences. See quote above.
2) Use capitals properly. They are designed to help separate out sentences, in marking the beginnings, as well as highlighting certain things. IF YOU ONLY TYPED IN CAPITALS NOBODY WOULD HAVE ANY IDEA IF YOU WERE TRYING TO EMPHASIZE EVERY WORD, OR WERE JUST AN IDIOT.
3) ??

As for your exhaust issue, I like that you asked a dealer if an aftermarket part was normal. You're probably just not used to the noise yet. If it was the DP (see how that's capitalized?), I'd say it's completely normal, as you're getting rid of the car and will hear the turbo more.

Catback though... I'm sure it's fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

And if you blame this typing on your phone, I'm going to petition to ban you. I type from my phone most of the time, and usually it's no caps, not every word.

You installed the midpipe upside down. Common problem. Just remove it, rotate it 360°and install it again.

720° should do it. Any more will cause excessive play.

Maybe he is using the stock bolts. OP, that exhaust was meant to be welded together. Are you better at MIG or TIG welding?

OP- Yes, it's normal. And I must say, damned funny too. You cant take offense man, gotta have thick skin around these parts, especially if you're going to vomit words into a thread like that.

Did you install a gasket?

The part in bold has 100% to do with nothing we need to know.

If you are having a tea kettle noise, you might have a leak. Without video, well we have nothing.

Did you check for leaks in 5th gear at 2400rpm?

In all honesty it could be unrelated to your recent mod. Maybe the top mount coupler came loose, pretty common on these cars. Look under the hood for a short large diameter hose coupling he top mount to the intake plenum. If that is loose or off you have a boost leak and would create increase turbo noise.

Again, could just be a random problem unrelated to your CBE.

Edit: forgot to add that your blinkers will make a teakettle sound when they start to run low on fluid, check those out first.

I would assume the turbo isn't spooling without throttle. And yeah the blinker fluid is an old one.

There is one last thing it could be. This fix goes way back to old legacies. If your top mount has any dirt between fins, it will start to whistle under throttle. It takes a while to explain but when you apply throttle, it brings the intercooler under pressure and will cause air to go through the clogged fins and whistle because they are under vacuum. Same theory as how a referee whistle works.

So to fix it you need to unclog the fins. The easiest way to do this is an old trick. A bar of soap will unclog the fins. Again it's tough to put into words but its as simple as taking a bar of Dove Ivory soap, putting it on the top of your intercooler, and driving around for about 10 minutes. The air passing over the soap has a way to clean out the fins. Make sure it's Dove Ivory, as it doesn't have any additional additives that could harm the intercooler.

Give that a try and it should clear up the noise.
