Default Already posted this on Arfcom, but just wanted to share.

Went to the Mesquite (DFW) gun show this past weekend and came home with a factory BCM carbine! I've been going to the shows around here for years, and I've never seen a BCM until this show.

The dealer said he got it as a trade-in, and he was selling it as "pre-owned". It couldn't have very many rounds through it since the bolt and hammer look barely worn, and there's still some factory grease around the barrel nut. Here's a quick run down of the package:

-BCM factory mid-length with HP/MP bolt and barrel, properly staked castle nut, etc.
-Troy rail w/ XTM panels
-Magpul AFG
-Magpul BAD
-Magpul trigger guard
-BCM marked Troy back-up sight
-Gunfighter Mod 3 charge handle
-fuuuuuuuuuuuugly UTG grip
-Troy sling adapter on the receiver extension
-LMT SOPMOD stock (gen 2)
-(1) unknown manufacturer 30rd mag

Grand total: $1576 out the door. Not too shabby if I say so myself... especially considering the DPMS and Shrubmasters going for the same price at other tables.

BCM (top) next to my SR-15 after getting home:

And here it is after adding a SF Scout and taking it back to a little bit more of a KISS set up:

Every once in a while you're in the right place at the right time.

Nice find. I cannot stand those Magpul MOE grips. I know people really like them, but they're just too slick for me. I also think the angle of it promotes too much of my index finger to wrap around the trigger. I'm a fan of the Hogue overmoulded. Looks good and the palm swell in it is awesome. Still the MOE is better than the UTG crap one.

But that's a nice rifle, for sure.

i love the LaRue index clips and handguards over the XTM handguards. I have been running them for a while now on my Spike's AR.

Yes sir. Last name is Andresen, which of course everybody in America just says as "Anderson."

My Grandfather on my dad's side was from Oslo.

No, no Norwegian for me. I never met my dad's dad. Pretty sure he was some sort of career criminal. But my dad does know some Norwegian, and will use it to swear at me every now and then. One of my friends went to Oslo for work and told me that he thought I was every man he saw there. Tall and blond. Even though at 6'1" I'm the baby of the men in the family. My dad and bro are both 6'4". Lucky bastards.

Speaking of Norway, have you ever been to The Wooden Spoon in Plano off of Avenue K? It's basically a store that only sells things made in Norway. Pretty great place.

Give me a shout. The shop/house is always open for beer drinking and gun fondling.

Saw my first polymer lower receiver failure today. This ATI Omni split ate the takedown pin after about ten rounds. From the rotating scraping on the face of the buffer, it looks like it began to fail aft the first round and the lower was twisting at the takedown pin hole, which also appeared to be out of round after firing. Snapped clean off at the pin, but at least nobody was hurt.

I've seen about 100 of these built out and this is the first failure do far.

My great grand parents on my Dads side were also from Norway. I visited while in the service back in 1988 (stationed in Germany). I liked your FB page and will try to give you some business. I always prefer to support locals.

Had my best day ever at Top Gun yesterday morning. I've been moving this weekend but since I had to move the firearms I took a detour out to the range. I found a good load dev to work out with the cannon, so that's good news, but the best came from the now-suppressed .308. I was dialing on their steel silhouette at 500 yards while a friend of mine was spotting. Put 3 consecutive shots in the same splash mark (~3 inches or less). Since I had a solid dope I started hammering away at their 4" steel swinger until it got boring...30 rounds later. It's hard not to grin when you hear a cat-sneeze and then a *ding* come from 500 yards away

Rang up LaRue today to see about my LT011 that I ordered back in December. Turns out they have a lead time of over a year for them! Now I'm just hoping that it arrives home before I return from Afghanistan

Everyone's lead time on custom uppers/rifles is over a year now. Yankee Hill quoted one of my customers 18 months for a 9mm AR.

Video from a couple weeks ago (warning: not YouTube-sized). It was windy but I was able to cut out a little of the wind noise from the video:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ssed500yds.mp4
I was shooting at a golf ball at 500 yards with that string. I should get video of the subsonic rounds because they are ridiculously quiet. They are also ridiculously unstable at 200 yards. I was laughing at myself trying to lob them in on the 200 yard swinger. I think I hit maybe 5 of 20

Go to test fire this today at the ranch. Recoil is about the same as a 22 now thanks to the mid-length gas tube system and Wolff extra power spring and heavy buffer.

Much more accurate than it was before.

I saw that Gun Gear to Go has a P7M8 on consignment, apparently the owner is selling it with 8 mags, looked real clean in the case.

I'm thinking of heading down to the show in Dallas this weekend to see if any of the vendors are selling powder. One of my coworkers said there are usually components for sale at a few of the tables. Anyone here go to these shows see a wide selection of powder often enough? I'm not sure when I'll see RE-15 on the store shelves again. Wouldn't hurt if someone had bulk SMKs (boxes of 500) there, too.

Yeah, there are usually a few guys there with nothing but components. I'm on call on Saturday on the box, so I might head down there myself to see what they have and maybe try to trade up on a couple of things.

Let me do some hunting and see if I can't find some RE-15 for you. I'll make some calls in the morning.
