Default Suggestion for NASIOC

Not sure if there is an appropriate location for this but just wanted to make a quick suggestion:

I have been a member on here awhile and I do frequently buy used parts specifically wheels. I recommend seperating out the used wheel marketplace into different bolt patterns since many Subaru's are 5x100 and many are 5x114... If this would cost too much or be too much work now - there is another solution in requiring users to put the bolt pattern in the thread title (might be hard to monitor but other sites do this).

This has become an issue because of the sheer quantity of used wheels on here - it honestly rivals the size of many overall for sale forums on other sites.

Anyway, please move my post if this was the wrong forum! Thanks.

some... probably around 10% and then you can either A) post in both forums for each pattern or B) there can be a "Multi-bolt pattern" forum. A lot of car forums split it out by pattern. Makes sense when you have a for sale forums that isn't dominated by one bolt pattern and is as big as Nasioc's

I see no need for separate sub sections in the forum for different bolt patterns. The simplest solution, which was mentioned, is requiring the bolt pattern to be listed in the title! Quick,simple..done.

You could just search for 5x100 or 5x114 within the classifieds.

Better searching is important, but sellers also need to not post useless titles like "wheels FS".

That problem tends to solve itself when the part fails to sell

Problem with requiring users to post bolt pattern in thread title (this would solve it and at least the requirement would help a lot) is who is going to monitor it? I highly doubt the moderators are going to be able to stop much considering the level of activity in that forum alone.

I do agree that this would help tremedously and is much better than nothing.

Problem with searching 5x100 or 5x114 is that the search misses a HUGE chunk of posts. Try searching both and I bet you get under 50% of the threads that are actually for that bolt pattern.

I tried searching "5x100" and on the first page it was already showing threads from Nov. '12

I tried search "5x114" and on the first page it was showing threads back to Dec. '12

So essentially searching that way is worthless.....

I'd imagine most people would ASK for the bolt pattern. Not a bad suggestion though.

( I won't lie... when I saw the thread title, I was expecting some kind of "stahp trolin pls" post )

I think it should have to be added to the title and it would show up like the FS/FT/WTB shows up.

Exactly what I was thinking. Have different thread prefixes to choose from which would mean that all threads would be easier to see and the people can't screw that up

I think you're missing a big opportunity to market your services as a Forum Consultant.

People would come from all corners of the earth and pay you literally dollars for insight like this.

Search.

And to preemptively address those who say "searching doesn't get the results I want", I suggest this solution:

Search better.

I'm not currently looking for wheels but when I was, I was open to looking at any wheels that fit my car... Therefore, there was no better way to search than to do it by bolt pattern. And guess what?! There is no way to do that on NASIOC. So, I had to spend a TON of time clicking through threads that were for other bolt patterns. I don't have any illusions, I understand nothing may be done but I though I would suggest it.

I'm not sure if you are a member of other car forums - but many aren't anywhere near the size of NASIOC, and the ones that are have their for sale area split by bolt pattern (at least for brands that have cars with different bolt patterns).

Thanks for the suggestion though, I am totally a "neWb", who has no idea how to "search". I did laugh at your Forum Consultant remark..
