Saw this today while out and about. I liked your sticker / car in general.

What % of tint do you have? It seemed dark but doable. If that's 35% I'm all over that - if it is 20% or less, it looks good but I need all the help I can get at night.

20% honestly isn't that bad when you're on the inside looking out. We could probably meet up sometime and I'll let you take it for a test drive.

I have darker tint on the back door windows and rear window.

I told the guy to go a shade lighter on the front doors. I can't remember what % I have bad eyes and it works out great

It is rare to get stopped just for tint. If you get pulled over for something else just drop all 4 windows and click the dome light on for a hassle free traffic stop.

Spotted Vadim on 18 this morning in his red bugeye wagon.

I've read around a few places that what's advertised as 20% is generally closer to 16-17. I've been stopped a couple times since tint and have not been questioned about it.

Having come from an LE background, I can tell you that this is true. Some might see it as trying to hide something, but usually the first objective when approaching a vehicle it to ascertain how many occupants are in the vehicle and what is in clear view as I approach. I'd be distracted by how easy it is to see everything and that would put me at ease.... it's always a tense undertaking.

That being said, my car suffers from no fewer than five (5) "Please pull me over" features:

1 - Oregon plates (read: Primary source of Washington Sate revenue; at least as I perceive it)

2 - Obnoxious exhaust. Look, over here! Yes, that noise is coming from the blacked out wagon with out-of-state plates. Piqued your curiosity yet Mr./Mrs. SPD?

3 - Somewhere between 15 and 20% tint (front windows; the rear are darker still). No sir, I'm not trying to hide anything. Yes, I do need at least 25 tree air fresheners hanging from my mirror. My newish car really does smell that bad, apparently. Something wrong with that? (that is what LE assumes they will see when the drivers window eventually rolls down). The probability of getting a ticket is commensurate to the time it takes to roll your window down, and what kind of bull**** excuse you have for whatever it is you were pulled over for. Really, you say your tires aren't stock and it's throwing off your speedo? Well, if you know that, why haven't you adjusted your speed for it? Guaranteed ticket. Your speedo is broken? That's two tickets. BTW, to the point of this topic, I've got some dark tinting and never been pulled over for it.

4 - That red LED strip inside my hood scoop, fading on and off slowly. ****, I forgot to turn that off again. Neighborhood kids think it's part of my really cool alarm system. It isn't. I wonder how they got that idea? Might be the web enabled video stream, recording from my 2nd story living room window, pointed down the condo parking lot. It has a red light on it too (I live in White Center, so, you know....)

5 - The '80 era license plate displayed on my dash. From California. Conflict with the other plates much? I know it was last registered in '84, but still.

LUCKY for me I'm in my '40s. Completely throws them off guard, and I usually get a warning (one that I've gotten before, BTW). If he/she is teetering on the "should I or shouldn't I ticket this guy?" decision (and I can tell), I'll throw in some comment about how I hated carrying around a PR-24, and that it's bull**** that they have to be licensed to carry an ASP; buy hey, those tasers are awesome! Wish they were around when I was the DUI guy on swing shift (wink wink, nod nod)

All that being said, I rarely get pulled over, because I know when/where to drive aggressively and when/where not to. It's easy to enjoy the kind of vehicles we have without pissing people off and creating a bad image and in turn motivating people to suggest legislation that would prevent us from enjoying our hobby; either by law or ridiculous financial prerequisites or penalties. Same goes for the motorcycling community that I used to be a strong part of. But trust me, they have it much worse.
