Default 02 wrx egt sensor code

hi so i recently bought a 02 wrx wagon from a dealership, ran fine for the first 2days, on the 3rd day a CEL came on and is flashing, i pulled the code to be a P0546 (Egt sensor malfunction high input). the same day the car started to idle hard like it wants to die but it doesnt, there is a big power loss when driving it and it seems to have a limit on it. i check the up pipe for the sensor and the up pipe doesnt have one also the connector is unconnected just laying there, so i put a 2.2k 1/2 watt resistor into the connector and disconnected the battery and killed the rest of the juice to reset. started car up and after 30sec the light comes back on flashing, and all the systoms are still there. i called the dealership and they said that since it was a modded car with a aftermarket exhaust that it was proably removed and that it can be fixed by getting a tune. is this true???

Please Help, Thanks

Are you sure that is the correct code? The light would have been on immediately for the EGT you started the car,not 2 days later. And especially not if you put the resister in.

Once while I was messing with my car I forgot to tighten a hose clamp on the turbo inlet pipe and got a EGT code. Perhaps you also have a boost leak as well. Causing it to run lean. Boost leak test would be my suggestion.
