Default tranny went...what next?

I've read the posts about APS/MRT, etc.etc. I just don't have the funds to do a full on build of the transmission, I've read bits and pieces about other Subaru models having marginally or debatabley stronger gears(possibly due to closer ratios). I am looking for some more information on this/ these possibilities. I don't want to just go buy another WRX tranny from the junkyard if I can spend A FEW extra dollars to get a (possibly) LGT tranny and have the gears swapped into my case, or just bolt the whole other tranny in if possible. I'm not looking for "6 speed swap time" replies here, I need to do this affordably...... not cheap.... but I just can't do 3-4k on a set of gears right now.

I'm only shooting for 300-350hp.

Anybody have any info or ideas they'd like to share?
My current thoughts are to get the RA gears and take it easy on them.
Anyone.... anyone..... Buehler?

I found the RA gear set for $1700 + $80 for the install kit, and a local shop quoted me $500 to rebuild it. I was just wondering about other options, like an Lgt gear set or comments on the RA's or other aftermarket options, I'm prepared to pay ~3k. I don't really know why "selling the car" would have anything to do with what I asked....selling a broken car is just a stupid idea

If you are prepared to pay 3k. You should consider doing a bare minimum 6mt swap.

Yea, I'm considering it, I have a strict budget of 3k though, if I can find all the necessary parts under budget I will certainly be doing the 6spd.....but I've already tried finding the trans locally to no avail.

i just blew my trans in my 06. once you do your research youll find the only way to hold that power effectively is by doing the 6 speed swap. im about 3k into mine. its the 5 speed case that flexes and causes **** to break.

Yea, I'm knee deep into getting everything together(in my head/on paper) to do the 6spd.

The case flex theory has been refuted by some heavy hitters in the automotive industry. It is more likely that the main shafts flex

I'm in the same boat as you right now. Blew out 3rd gear in my FXT yesterday.
