Question Paint Question

Well today for some reason while washing the car I noticed that rite where the curved part on the lower door." 5 inches up from the side skirts"..There are like blotches and waves in the paint. Not anywhere else on the car just on the lower doors. I also noticed little spots of rust on the surface of the paint. I have a silverhorn metallic and was wondering if anyone has the same problem as me. Thanks...Gerry

They do spray the bottom 6 inches or so of the doors and quarter panels with a thick paintable rust protective coating. You can realy see it if you lie on the ground and look up at the door area from the front or rear of the car.

Don't know about the rust unless it is just brake dust that has rusted. Does it rub off?

Gerry , Have you tried to use clay to rub off the rust stains ? You can buy it you local auto part stores . I think it's made by "Mothers" . I used it on my 02 to remove the "rail dust" it's the dust that comes off of the wheels of trains when the cars are being transported . Hope the helps.

Yeah I was planning on useing it this week since the car show is this weekend. I was looking at the one from automagic. I've used their stuff for a while and alot of professional detailers use it so I figured it has to be good stuff..It just bothers me about the rust because...Well actually I don't know why but It does....Thanks..Gerry

The bar from Mother's works wonders for paint. It worked well on my car. It really smoothes the paint out (and will remove the rust). Follow that by a couple coats of wax and she looks like she is made of glass. The blotches in the pain at the bottom of the doors - are you looking at the layer of the "chip proof" paint? I couldn't really tell what you were talking about by your post. I'm sure you know this, but usually you will find an area where the paint changes along the bottom of the doors/body - it's a place where they primed it with a "softer" primer that absorbs impact from rocks and stones better than just the standard primer and in turn keeps the paint layer from chipping.
