Default hood struts

Will any hood struts for Subaru fit the new Impreza?

Why do you want them? My experience has been that hydraulic struts just wear out and don't hold up the hood after awhile. The prop rod is much more reliable.

If whatever you're looking at doesn't have a '12 model year, you might want to contact the manufacturer. I've seen recently some of these online part catalogs don't always have up to date info.
The $30+ replacement hood struts for my Explorer Limited failed in less than a year, twice. Maybe I didn't spend enough $$$ but I won't be finding out.

I would be careful of adding struts to your hood. If you install them wrong or don't add bracing there is a good chance that you will bend the good while trying to close it. Those struts are VERY strong and the Impreza hoods are a bit flimsy.

has anyone used strut kits from Redline Tuning? I can't recall how many years I have had a set on my Contour .... since 2004 I believe. Have never been an issue. I'll be putting a set on my Focus tomorrow.

I didn't see a kit listed for the 11+ Impreza, maybe in some time?

Hey brapple! How's it going? I know you through NECO and Greg. At least I'm pretty sure that's you lol.

Anyway, I had a set of hood struts from Redline for my cougar and MS6. As soon as I got my Impreza, I emailed them to see if they were planning to make a kit for the '12+ crowd. They said they were planning on it, but needed someone to bring an Impreza to their shop for fitment. That was almost a year ago tho.

Well if you know Greg and had a Cougar there is a good chance that we have meet.

What I just learned is the Redline Tuning is a small company. Friend called about over billing for shipping and actually talked with the owner. They haven't updated the website recently. So maybe try them again. The Focus kit is nice. The struts have been improved from the older design. They slow down as they get to full extension. The set on my Contour does not and the hood does kinda "snap" open. Either way still a nice product.
