Default 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible

Quote:
The caff latte crowd has a new model to look forward to in the form of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertibleyes, an open-top version of the popular compact crossover not unlike Nissans failed Murano CrossCabriolet. Land Rover first previewed its Evoque Convertible in concept form back in 2012. At the time, the British automaker was still gauging whether the concept should be given the green light for production.

Ultimately, the success of the regular Evoque three- and five-door variants persuaded Land Rover to do so as we now have spy shots of a prototype for the production version. It confirms that Land Rover is keeping the two-door, 2+2 seating layout of the concept.

Range Rover Evoque convertible

A new element not seen on the original concept version is the new folding soft-top roof design. Like on the concept, this should fold away into a storage compartment behind the rear seats, although this means that there will be very little storage room with the top down. Another new element is a small wing spoiler at the rear.

Both-front-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive Evoque Convertibles are possible, and the range could include both gasoline and diesel engines (although a diesel alternative isnt likely to be a near-term option for U.S. customers). The standard transmission should be a nine-speed automatic. Stay tuned for updates as development of the Evoque Convertible progresses, and look for a debut sometime in 2016. If offered in the U.S., the vehicle will likely arrive as a 2017 model. Note, there are even more Evoque variants thought to be in the works. Possibilities include a long-wheelbase variant and a performance variant.

Did they not learn from the dismal sales of the Nissan Murano Vert? Ugh.

Love the look of the Evoque but like KC said Crosscabrio sales are horrible, for a reason...

Stop that foolishness at once! Nissan already answered a question that should not have been asked.

The Evoque wouldn't be so bad if they fixed their interior dimensions and those cramped footwells (especially on the driver's side). The driver side leg compartment has some weird compartment intrusions from the body and it makes it one of the most annoying vehicles to drive (next to the Volvo C30).

As far as a convertible, Land Rover has the money to play around. Nissan does too. It's funny watching people scream blasphemy just because they're not the target audience or have any interest in the type of vehicle a manufacturer is testing.

That's how I spell...future reliability award winner. 1 year lease, anyone? How to take an unreliable good looking turd and extract the good looking part out. Kudos Rover. Smashing brilliant.
