Mine was similar on my 09. They initially said that it was the firewall, turns out it was the throw out bearing and they are replacing the clutch under warranty.

Never mind. I did some further research & figured out I've got the same problem w/ the firewall. I bought my WRX from a private party used. Do you guys think I have a snowball's chance with the local Subaru dealer?

Hmm not really a pop more like a "click" there is a video on you tube demonstrating the click and shows where the weld is broken behind the dash. I'm at work right now and can't pull up a link bit will later

Very odd this dude is organizing two class action law suits on nasioc. He's either the lawyer who is running the law suit or getting a kick back from the lawyer. For those who don't know the only people who benefit from a class action law suit is the lawyer not the people involved. Sure maybe he can win this case but it won't get you anything worth it. These types of things are only good for the lawyers involved and they will get the huge payout and laugh all the way to the bank as they send out their $10 check to everyone involved in the suit. If you go to his web site you will see he is an ambulance chasing lawer.......that should tell you all you need to know about him.

Also note that there is a normal clicking noise from the button (maybe a switch o sensor) that the clutch pedal rests on. And pops out when u press the clutch in. If you hold the clutch in with your hand. U can press the button in and out and it clicks...

Yeah, I've heard the "click" since I've had it, but upon further inspection, the issue you all have had is the same as mine w/ the traveling brake pedal & master cylinder.

I have a 2011 WRX Sedan and I just noticed this the past couple hundred miles. I just hit 20k and it only happens on warm up, only when clutch is depressed, same exact issue as Subezero.

Is this a TOB or another issue? Either way next oil change I'm getting it looked at. I don't beat on my car, its bone stock and my dealership has been good to me so far. We'll see what happens.

Default 2009 WRX master cylinder

I just had the full master cylinder assembly replaced @ 65K for the 3rd time ! and the CLICK nose is back after 500 miles !!!
What's up with this ?
Also, there is a werling , spinning sound from the clutch, when depressed, when the car is just started... an mech. friend said it sounds like TOB.
It started 30K ago.

Any thoughts out there on any of this ??

That click is probably the busted weld that this thread is about. Stop buying master cylinders. As for the whirring I guess TOBs going on these things is pretty common

Note to self...not a lawyer at all and not getting a kick back either. I'm sick of the BS run arounds from Subaru and want a forced recall to fix the issue. I make good money and I'm not looking for a payout. In addition, Greg Coleman is one of the most respected lawyers in Knoxville. Sure he handles personal injury claims but his expertise is with class action suits. Stop trolling Supraru....

Right......no kickback for trying to start two class action suits for this guy Greg Colman. Either you have to be absolutely stupid for not telling him you'll get things going and throw him the business or you think everyone in this thread is that stupid for be living you're not getting a kick back. I'm sorry that I just Lol'd at you for saying a personal injury lawer is one of the most respected lawers in Knoxville.....again you must think everyone here is stupid for believing the dumb stuff coming out of your mouth.

Just turned in a claim on my clutch problem to SOA. I immediately got a call back from the local dealer. They said to bring it in & they'll look at it. Do any of you who have this problem have any aftermarket suspension or sway bars? I know they're going to say that's what caused this.... Let me know. Thanks

Dropped my 09 off at the dealership Tuesday, it's still there getting repaired. They are fixing it as a "good will repair", not warranty, under the condition that I get the clutch replaced as well. They want me to pay the class A warranty deductible ($100) and the price of a new flywheel and TOB. I think it's going to be $400 total, but maybe $500 if the estimate I saw didn't include the deductible. I just want that click creak sound gone, and for the clutch to consistently engage right.

Hey folks, I'm new to NASIOC and after reading this thread immediately checked out my 2011 WRX. I found the same clutch squeak described by others and the same movement of the brake pedal and brake master cylinder when the clutch is depressed. The car has zero mods and is a DD. The dealership just told me the movement of the brake master cylinder is normal but they will be replacing the clutch fork and pivot ball and possibly the clutch plate. The work is scheduled to be done next week, I may post another update then.

At 35k miles I had the clutch pedal assembly replaced which fixed the clicking noise. Squeaking was still there after warm up, and squealing was worse during warm up, so they pulled it apart and replaced the pressure plate and TOB. No sounds now, but I know it will come back. Read the description on this part :

http://www.subaruwrxparts.com/shop/p...idproduct=2255

Wish I would have gotten it installed when they had it open.

Just a side note I had my pedal bracket re-welded by the dealer but the clutch still "creaked" when warm, I researched and found that greasing the clutch slave cylinder push-rod that pushes through the rubber boot with high temp moly-lithium grease made the noise ****, to do this I had to remove the TMIC. Also grease the push rod that goes through the firewall above the accelerator pedal. This worked for me it's been about a week and no squeak/creak anymore...knock on wood.

Edit-please describe your squeal I may have confused what u meant like when u modulate the pedal in and out it squeals or only when fully pressed when cold or hot etc?

On my 09 I have a squeak when I engage the clutch. Once in I can hear a faint squeeling whir sound. This was also present in my 03. I've had this sound on the 09 for about 20k.

How about this...If there is any money from this (barring the repair cost of the firewall), I will donate it to a charity of your choice...the entire proceeds. I'm not in this to make money; only to fix the problem. Lawyers are going to make money, that's what they do. And by the way, there is only one suit...not two. The only reason I'm helping is because I brought the issue to his attention because I was sick and tired of the run around from SOA. Quit trolling...

*BTW, they are currently collecting information to ensure that this is as widespread as we claim. With more people involved, we can make something happen!

Try greasing the push rod (excuse my lack of correct terminology) from the clutch slave cylinder, that may help with the squeak, the whirling sound that's your TOB and that's a common thing with 08+ wrx's it's worse on humid cold days

I've greased but the noise comes back. The TOB is most likely going bad I guess . The same thing started in my 03 and I ended up replacing it and resurfacing the flywheel.

>| 2 weeks after I greased it, the noise came back >| it actually happened this morning all was good and merry last night. But I think your right the metal ball pivot joint that the clutch fork sits on is probably worn...of I had a car lift and tranny jack me and my ol man would replace it ourselves, the freaking dealer wants 650 to replace the TOB the labor is what kills.
