Well sense it's been brought up of roads that people should drive I thought I would share the map of the route I plan to take this summer for vacation.
I used to live in Provo UT so I'm meeting some friend from there at pikes peak and the taking the following route back to Provo.
http://goo.gl/maps/d0Wh3

The 550 is suppose to be in the top 10 best driving roads in the US.
Then I'm staying in Provo for a week to drive the Alpine loop, Mt Nebo loop, Mirror Lake highway and we are considering driving to Montana to drive the Bear Tooth highway as well.
It's going to be an awesome trip

Here's a link to the Alpine Loop, its kinda like a really long autoX course

Mt Nebo Loop

Mirror Lake Highway

Thanks for putting that video up Shiloh! I can't imagine how frustrated you must get following my slow, over braking car!

I'll be in Colorado this summer the week before (and of) the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. If anyone is up there that week, I'll try out some mountain roads...

LOL my car can't grip in the turns that was my limit
I'm going to go over the top on the suspension like I did on the rest of the car
Ready to really grip the road!
I'm so jealous your going to pikes peak. Going to seriously considered a trip there in 2014

Black07Sleeper,

Thank you so much for organizing this cruise it was a great run. We all enjoyed it!

I was wondering it seems there is a lot of interest in cruises maybe we can have say once a month? maybe a subset of the N Dallas cruise (like a mini series cruise)

The goal is to have at least 4-5 cars come out and maybe weekdays weekends morning afternoon short cruises longer.

What do you think?

added music to the youtube video of the cruise makes it much more fun to watch
it is a lot of fun to watch it in HD on a big screen really gives a feel of the cruise
I am really Impressed with that little gopro it was suctioned to the hood and was shaking all around at high speeds due to the flex in the hoods aluminum skin
next time I will put it on the windshield

I didn't know you were moving, that's a bummer. Good luck up there. We go there twice a year (acutally a small town just west in the mountains called woodland park), so hopefully we'll see you up there. As I said in a previous post, we'll be there in late June, early July. We'll get together and I'll show you how to drive through that pass!

I'm not sure if I could make a cruise every month, but I bet there'd be a few people every month that would make it out. If it was a driving thing, there would definitely need to be a couple of different routes, but maybe a regular meeting place.

There are already several meets in the area, so I don't know how different what your proposing would be, but there is no lack of roads around here and a lot of guys with Subarus.

Throw it out there and see what happens! I guess you already did, so just tell me when and where and we'll see if the interest is there for others.

Okay, now the ball is rolling! The routes that Devo has to offer can really make this thing happen! I followed you before and you know your way around these parts. So, do we think there is enough interest to put something together and start a new thread? We could call it "DFW Monthly Cruise" or something like that. I think we'd need to shake the "North Dallas" moniker, because we'd need to spread out a bit more to make it a monthly thing. Thoughts on a day/time? Devo has a regular Second Saturday of the month thing, so we'd probably need to stay off of that.

What do you guys think two monthly cruises. A short one sometime during the week and a longer one during the weekend. That way we can try to accommodate most people schedule.

For example, lets say the weekday cruise is one hour long, but in reality it is two hours because you have to meet up prior and all that good stuff .....

And the weekend cruise longer one gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy their car.

Whats everyone's opinion ?

I'd bet two a month would result in less turn out for each, especially the one during the week. I'd almost never be able to make a week night, but others might only be able to make a week night.
Maybe it would be better to alternate weekends and week nights. Third Saturday in June, third Thursday in July, third Saturday in August, third Thursday in Sept. Yes, that's kind of confusing, but it would be posted on the thread. The cruise would be rotating, so the meeting place would as well. Why not the day?
My main concern is that over-saturation will diminish the experience, from a group perspective. Yes, the roads are the same, but a big part of the fun is getting a long line of cars on those roads.
It's just an abstract idea at this point, it's not like we're assembling the U.N. It's your brain child, A11, what do you think?

I have driven the Beartooth several times, it's amazing. The Chief Joseph Highway that branches off back toward Cody,Wy is awesome too.

Radar detector is a great idea! I love my escort redline

A new thread would be a solid idea, to put it in writing that we want to organize this on a monthly basis

How many cars do we need to make this worthwhile? My thought was 5-7 vehicles

Look forward to meeting yall and getting to be a part of this community

If it is done during the weekday I still would like it done during the day. Safety is number one and during the day equals more visibility.

For the weekday I was thinking something that starts in the late afternoon so we can capture two potential groups. 1. Those that are free 2. Those that finished work.

But lets start one step at a time and see how it goes lets do one on the weekend and take it from here how does that sound?

The question is:
Which week of the month? is it going to be set or alternating?
Saturday or Sunday ?

Geeez, I feel so out of the loop. I feel like its been forever since I've done anything fun... moving sucks. Almost done though. Would y'all want to do a cruise after cars and coffee in like 2 weeks?

Maybe putting a monthly cruise after cars and coffee is a good idea... That would generally work for me.

However, I am out for the next cars and coffee. I'll be road tripping to South Carolina.
